    Format For Realms?

Are the people running suppose to be running as 2consturcted and 1sealed, or are they allowed to do 2sealed and 1constructed?  It seems like different realms are offering different ones just wanted to know if there was suppose to be a set way of it being done.

    Re: Format For Realms?

I believe the answer depends on how many days are offered:

    Format

Each Championship location will offer at least two Constructed Qualifiers and one Sealed Pack Qualifier. Players with zero or one loss will move on to the Championship on Sunday.(Locations hosting 1-day events will offer one Constructed Qualifier and one Sealed Pack Qualifier.)

The Championship event will use the Constructed format. Players will play four rounds of Swiss before cutting to the Top 8. The Top 8 players will compete in single elimination rounds to determine a winner.

The format will be the King of the Hill scenario on the Tanaris map. Players will earn 4 VPs for a kill and 1 VP at the end of each game tick for a character that is on top of the central high ground.

    Re: Format For Realms?

The reason why I was asking is because the Teldrassil Realms is a 2 day event and is listed to do a Sealed at 12pm, Constructed at 2pm, and the final on at 4 is a Sealed on Saturday.  I called them and they said that the times listed were correct, which is why I was asking because I saw where it said that Realms were suppose to be Constructed, Sealed, and then a second Sealed.

    Re: Format For Realms?

Is there a document that states how many rounds there should be? I have read the documents that refer to elimination rounds, but nothing on qualifiers from what I can find.

    Re: Format For Realms?

From what I recall in a document I cannot recall, UD Event Qualifiers are based on attendance to determine the number of played rounds.

    Don't know if this helps:

    32.                  Number of Rounds and Single-Elimination Cut

The number of Swiss rounds in a tournament and the cut for single-elimination rounds is determined by the total number of players enrolled in the tournament. Single game matches use a different table than three game matches to determine the total number of rounds, as well as the cut for single-elimination rounds. Tournament organizers may slightly adjust the number of rounds, but only if they clearly announce this prior to the start of the tournament.

Three game match rounds and cut                One game match rounds and cut

    4-8                3 rounds           (Top 2)            4-8                4 rounds           (Top 2)

    9-16              4 rounds           (Top 4)            9-16               5 rounds           (Top 4)

    17-32            5 rounds           (Top 8)            17-22            6 rounds           (Top 8)

    33-64            6 rounds           (Top 8)            23-36            7 rounds           (Top 8)

    65-128          7 rounds           (Top 8)            37-52            8 rounds           (Top 8)

    129-256        8 rounds           (Top 8)            53-94             9 rounds           (Top 8)

    257-512        9 rounds           (Top 8)            95-152          10 rounds         (Top 8)

    513-1024      10 rounds         (Top 8)            153-256        11 rounds         (Top 8)

    1024+            11 rounds         (Top 8)            257-440        12 rounds         (Top 8)

                                                                                        441+             13 rounds         (Top 8)

    Then their is this

    Normal 0 false false false /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;}

    D-12    Tournament Match Structure

Rounds in World of Warcraft Minis tournaments are played as single-game matches. Events that use single-game matches follow these rules:

    ·         In each round of a tournament, each player will play one game against an opponent to determine the winner of the match. The first player to win a game is the winner of the match.

I had already gone over that and I am not sure it applies, given that it breaks to single elimination and qualifiers do not.  These would seem a bit harsh for a qualifier tournament.

    Re: Format For Realms?

The number of rounds is going to depend on the number of entries, for sure.  Anticipate 5 rounds for 20 players or more.  They'll probably then give everyone that goes 5-0 and 4-1 a spot in the Championship.  In a smaller event than that, it will probably be 4 rounds (with entries for 4-0 and 3-1).  If they don't have enough people to make 4 rounds be sensible, then they will probably just scrap the event.

I wanted to give everyone a list of all the trustworthy people who traded with me on this site, but it exceeds maximum character length. To me, that's a hopeful sign.

The X-0, and X-1 spots are slotted in as we have documents saying that.  The rest is just guesswork and I wanted to know what the actual policy is.  I don't see a clear reason why they wouldn't hold a 4 person qualifier, especially if they have 2-3 other qualifiers still to host.

I remember last realms that they would not hold a qualifier if there was less than 8 people that wanted to play.  I'm not sure if that was an actual policy or just the T.O.s making that ruling though.

    Re: Format For Realms?

TOs have the final say about running qualifiers. For example, even when the documents stipulated X rounds of Swiss followed by a top cut, our SS TO opted to just award the SS to the undefeated player.

    Re: Format For Realms?

That partly drives my curiousity.  I know our Qs had about the same amount of people as other qualifiers last year (around 20) and we ran 5 rounds. Consequently, only 9 people qualified for day 2.  However, at other realms they had about that many (more than 20), ran 4 rounds, had a healthy day 2.

    Re: Format For Realms?

The way that they did it at the Nashville Realms was that they cut it into multiple flights.  For the first sealed we had 31 or 32 I think and they split it into 2 flights of 16.  That worked out to 1 4-0 and several 3-1s for Day 2.  Day 2 I think we had a total of 18.

    Re: Format For Realms?

k this still does not answer my question as to if the TO is allowed to change the format to be 2sealed and 1 constructed when UDE website says that all 2day events must hold 2constructed and 1sealed.
