Just as a heads up, if someone offers you a spectral tiger loot code for gold, they're lying.

    Gotta love the optimism.

However, the sad part is it's probably true.

It's now possible to trade the Spectral Tiger's in game once the code has been redeemed but before it's Soulbound (you can stick them on AH for instance).  I believe that's what he's after.

However given that the in-game gold price is something like 100-200k gold (250k is the max gold you can have in an account) it's still a prohibitive price.

Well, there are people who would spend hundreds of dollars on gold. If you had a spectral tiger, you could probably find someone to pay 100k gold for it, or more. People looking to buy gold in a way that Blizzard is okay with might actually do this. It's just not something you'd expect to see often...

The maximum amount of gold you can have per character is 214,748g 36s 46c (ie. it's stored as coppers in a signed 32bit integer). However, as far as I know there isn't an actual maximum amount what you could theoretically store on an account. Of course you can have the 214k times 10 just in one server by having all your characters goldcapped. But in addition to that you can naturally use personal guild banks to store at least over a million gold in them.

That said, I'm looking  for the in-game item Reins of The Swift Spectral Tiger myself too, though on EU-Moonglade Horde side. Willing to pay 140k, or possibly more if one needs to server/faction transfer themselves, and help with transferring the gold away from my realm. I can be contacted Horde side on my banker who has the same name as my account here.

The usual way is to buy enough expensive materials you can sell in the new server. This of course does take some effort and can potentially gain you more or less, depending on the prices on stuff in both servers.

Usually the best things to transfer are high demand and high price materials, like uncut epic gems, frost lotuses, etc. Of course you can always transfer things like Mechano Hogs in your inventory, but while their price should be pretty constant from server to server, selling them might be somewhat of a longer term project.

And if I do get a seller, I can at least help him with buying the needed materials, since I have pretty good knowledge of my own server's markets and I'd be willing to scout around on the target server. I do also have few sources I can get certain materials in bulk for somewhat cheaper than the usual AH prices.
