    DMF in California '10

Does anyone have any info on when the next DMF in California 2010 will be? or what city it will be in?

I don't know that any DMF locations have been revealed beyond Las Vegas in December of this year.
Typically, they make an announcement of several locations at once in a few weeks after Worlds is over.

Typically (that is, last year), they announced the Complete 2009 OP schedule at Worlds. I don't know what 'typically' you're talking about :)

    Cheers.

I talked to some UDE reps at Worlds.  They are still working on the schedule for next year, and said they should have something to announce at Las Vegas, depending on what they had planned works out.

That's just Phil being Phil, which I of course don't mind, being an old grouch myself. ;-)
Since I didn't go to Worlds last year, I guess I remembered the timing of the DMF announcement incorrectly.

They released a full OP Schedule for 2009 at Worlds 2008 as I recall.

Would be nice to see something for 2010 asap.

Understand they probably go to Anaheim for Disney Land or something but that area is actually the most expensive area you can have a convention in Los Angeles.

People probably think it is safe but a girl was murdered in a hotel room in that area during Blizcon.

Not sure when a DMF will come back to LA but when it does they should consider the hotels just outside LAX. In fact they should consider trying to double up doing it with http://www.strategicon.net/ in some way.

Long Beach is another good area.

Personally I think the next west Coast DMF will probably not be in California. Cali had DMF Anahiem and SF in 2009.

Attendance in Cali will probably be better but UDE does need to consider other things as well I am sure.

I just couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of pointing out one murder in Anaheim calling into question its safety and then suggesting Long Beach in the next sentence where drive by shootings are referred to as "background music".

I think a DMF in Cali is natural and there should be one every year at least. Our cities are highly accesible, have temperate climates and are overall great places to visit.

And our women are the best looking according to the Beach Boys, who I appeal to for all arguments.

    Re: DMF in California '10

The complete schedule for 2010 is planned for release during the first week of January. We'll likely put out information about spring events a bit earlier.

As evident from the other thread, putting out important information during Worlds doesn't mean it won't get overlooked and/or forgotten. :)

I had a job interview in Long Beach once.  Took a wrong turn off the freeway, ended up in Compton.  Good times...

You are talking about areas of Long Beach that are not even close to the convention center....well no further away then the extremely high crime areas of Orange County are from Disney Land area.

My point was crime happens everywhere.

Well everywhere in LA except maybe El Segundo.

One of the things to be considered imo when choosing a event location should be how much is it going to cost players to stay in the area for 2-4 days. If the area is expensive then other areas should be considered. The more money players save on that the more money players spend on side events.

Disney Land area is way more exspensive then other parts of LA.

Well 1st of all I am more for events in LAX then Long Beach.

Actually I am for events anywhere except the Disney Land area; I would rather go to San Diego then Disney area even though I live in Los Angeles.

The only WoW events I have seen in Long Beach were at the convention center (if you went any more South you would be in the ocean)

Guessing you were going to north long beach which is where you need to be going to end up in Compton...unless your really lost.
