    Frustrated with UDE OP

It's getting to the point where I'm getting very frustrated with the OP for TCG/Mini's here.  I'm one of the TO/Judges for a local store and it seems like it's always an uphill battle to get support (kits/etc), responses/etc.  I'm in a community of about a million people (with the subburbs)... and there are 13 comic/card shops around... actually 14 if the one that closed down a few months ago opens up with new owners.  We get 4-6 people here, 4 people there... there's so many different places and so many small groups playing that it hurts the game.  Coupled with the fact that it's like pulling teeth to get a organized play kit out of them only to finally get one and then have 3 people show up here because 3 others are at another store, and 3 more are at third store.

Now I'm not saying UDE are a bunch of idiots... Ry has been excellent with me both for OP and as a player, but I'm at the point in wondering why I'm expending so much time/energy to make this work when it seems like I'm alone in this.

Sorry, just needed to vent.  I saw another store pop-up locally with only 4 players and I'm losing my Mini's slot to Friday Night Magic as well at my own store. =/

Just a thought, but if you can get all the stores to work together to foster a large and thriving community it would be best for everyone involved.

Austin has one play group and we run tournaments at the two stores that are interested.  This way the stores both see the the turnout and they are geographically different so that if someone doesn't want to travel as far they can pick.

It works out okay here.  Both places buy the Battlegrounds kits and we run one Friday and one Saturday.

A lot of this is a function of the players as well.  You all have to be willing to play at the same couple of places... see if you can't talk others into one or two stores.  We would be happy to share our pricing structure for our tournaments with you.

Honestly, this really does get to the root of our problem (I'm in Edmonton). We have two groups of players, both small. Mine is in Edmonton, and the other is in a suburb. Nobody seems to want to make the effort to travel on regular basis.

What you don't understand, you can make mean anything.

    Re: Frustrated with UDE OP

Where I play we have a similar issue, however its on the reverse side. We have an average of 4-6 people (including myself) that play the WoW TCG a couple nights a week. The nearest 'big' hobby/game store that runs things is 45 minutes away and thats a bit much given the financial status of work around my area. With that being said we put an effort into Organized Play and getting santioned and so forth was the easy part, getting membership cards, access to battleground kits and so forth has been a nightmare even with 100% support from the shop owner to help get things done. I've been waiting like six weeks or more now on membership cards, thats six weeks of events that I have been unable to upload due to temporary player IDs.

    Re: Frustrated with UDE OP

The Battlegrounds kits contain a small number (4-6) of UDE id's. The drawback is that a store that has an account with Upper Deck Direct has to be the ones to order it. I believe that people can email player@ude.com or somesuch to get a number.

Hopefully someone from UDE will be by sometime to verify where to send the email to.

    Re: Frustrated with UDE OP

We have four stores within an hour of each other and what we've done is work out a schedule where one store does a fri night another will do a saturday and another does Sunday- and there's a tuesday lunch event. The stores learned to co-operate with scheduling so it maximizes the number of players per event.

Obviously not everyone will get to every store all the time, but here in SoCal guys will drive about an hour to get to an exciting battleground or RQ which leads to great turnouts. Between 8-40 players.
