    Arizona Officially Forgotten.

Well, looks like i was right, yet again. Arizona no longer has a Spectral Safari in our state (the one that wa slisted on SS page is gone). couple that with only a single registered store for battleground (and only 2 for the TCG), I can safely bet that UDE is pulling out of Arizona entirely. Not that they were here to begin with.

Seriously, as a fan of the tcg and minis game, this is complete horsecrap. I really, really want to play this game, but UDE has put forth no effort in promoting play in Arizona at all. I cant afford the gas to drive 3 hours everytime i want to do a battleground or a tournament or anything, and I'm certainly not going to waste money flying anywhere else. After DMF SF, travel expenses are definitely not worth it. Especially when judges at big events cant even answer questions like "Where is the registration desk" or when a judge admits he has no idea when the doors are supposed to open, or when the judge standing behind you during a match reeks of alcohol (Not at DMF, that was the last AZ regional i attended).

So, thats my rant. I'm done buying UDE products because my state is probably just below the Gaza Strip in terms of organized play.

MAKE WAY! I AM THE SLIP AND SLIDE CHAMPION!

Sounds like blaming Coke because nobody wants to install a vending machine.  UDE has a position in the hobby entertainment market, and store front operations is not it.  You have a right to be upset, but your anger at UDE seems misplaced.  If nobody in the state is willing to run an event, what do you expect UDE to do?

    Re: Arizona Officially Forgotten.

...Ude has not forgotten arizona entirely. There was a prerelease for the tcg last weekend and a realm qualifier the week before. Also i know that hero comics has a battleground set up for minis on either saturday or sunday.....so im going to have to call your bluff. Unless you mean Flagstaff/Payson/Prescott......in that case your screwed. I didn't think people played any games up there except for shuffleboard and monopoly.

    Re: Arizona Officially Forgotten.

Yeah bro I was totally pissed off. The Thunderbird store is bad. I went for the 1st BG and I had to wait 2 hours for more players.... In the end Turns out Gamers Inn was handing out all the prizes to everyone....I have 2x brother's if it's going to be like that sells us the loots and I can still have my Saturday for online raids or RL.  Too Bad that store is in Mesa and other than people who live in Mesa, we would rather NEVER go there. As for the pre-release I only do the simple card games since keeping up with the TCG is $500 per set (GTFO).... And BTW WTF was posting a 10:00AM start time when Reg was at 11:00AM and game started at noon? Again, wasted 2 hours. Good thing I had my mini's, too bad I WAS IN MESA 7 HOURS! I also play the same OP players every TCG.... And don't give me that stuff everyone knew cause there was like 10 people there at 10:00 AM. If you can't help getting wasted on Friday I can care less. But MY DRUNK ASS WAS THERE...So I've played Mage Knight, Hero Clicks and Have over 100 Wow mini's..... Makes me so friggen Mad, finally a cool mini game .... Why did UDE get the rights?  -I miss WisKids.... Had their stuff together!

    100% Right On.

Try getting angry at the stores unwilling to sign up for battlegrounds, and not at the publisher who would gladly send them the kits.

WizKids... (I'm sure it was a typo, coming from a fan ) Didn't have their stuff together. Their bottom line was So Red that why Tops pulled the plug on the company so fast it killed unborn babies and made people play in traffic while the streets ran red with the blood of puppies....

Gaming events like this are totally based around the brick building game seller, without which gaming like this wouldn't be as big as it is.

I know of a guy that bought so much Magic that he could give cards away and not feel it. well he bought is magic online because his town had no gaming. He started playing in the local Movie rental store/ candy shop. First he worked on the owner, getting him to play. Then in what seem like no time but was really 2years, he had 8 players coming to the store to play magic twice a week then 20 players. The store owner stocked the game, and players started buying from him. The Store owner heard of other games and stocked them on his own. The gaming grew on it own. The store was like the center of town, and was a hang out for everyone young and old.

Well if you guess that gaming was still going on in this town you would be wrong. The rental store died, thanks to the blockbuster town towns over and the owner moved to NYC to work construction, and the town no longer has gaming because the first guy moved to NYC as well and took his cards with him, and the local shops wouldn't let kids play CCG in their stores and traveling over an hour to pick up packs of cards mustn't be the easiest thing for young gamers to do on their own.

My point is Ranting about UDE is a waste of time. I know UDE doesnt want us to rant about each other, but the fact is that's whats needed.

Remember... no matter what you think. UDE has it's stuff together.... We're the ones that need to Organize.

WOW is going strong in my local shop. Both the CCG and Mini game are healthy thanks to the help of the Store and the players.

    Re: Arizona Officially Forgotten.

    Hello,

se7enth, while you can certainly voice your opinion, your previous thread was deleted due to the language you used in it.

As for those wondering, to be considered for events such as the Spectral Safari a store should:

    * Run regular events for WOW Minis (or TCG in the case of elite events for that game)
    * Have a good history of reporting their events (uploading them with Mantis) in a timely manner. If you don't upload we see zero activity.
    * Pre-sanctioning is a plus! We really like it when shops pre-sanction their events at least a month in advance. This is good for new players trying to find events in their area
    * Are in good standing with Upper Deck OP.  To do this you should order and run Battlegrounds correctly, follow the program rules, etc.
    * Have a history of doing a good job running quality events for and promoting other Upper Deck games.

Not every store that meets this criterion can be selected. The best way to make sure your local shop is considered these events is to make sure they are running and reporting regular events at least a couple of times a month.

Going over a list of stores in Arizona, I can only see one location (Hero Comics in Phoenix) that has uploaded the results of their WoW Minis events. You can check this for yourself in the tournament locator if you select Arizona and WoW Minis here: http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/op/search/searchtourn.aspx

    Re: Arizona Officially Forgotten.

OK I'm a little hot headed -OK WAY HOT. But two facts still remain. There was a group who was playing every Tues or Thurs at Talons Hide Out. Bad news was just like Hero Comics there can't be a event unless there is a judge. Same for Gamers Inn but Gamers Inn has a judge. None of the stores/judges post the Mantis stuff so then there can't be the big events AKA Spectral Safari.

Here's where the issue stands. Who cares about regular events. These big events pull new players but the little events people want to see how the game is, since it's still relatively new. So we can't do regular events when I have to let people use my mini's. People are unwilling to buy into a new game since the TCG has been such a letdown(Again $500 per set is Redic) As for the Upper Deck rules a standings most all of us can care less. We put on your events and do the judging and what do we get in return... In this case NOTHING. It was scheduled and I know people would have shown up. Why do we need to PROVE WORTH of a system that has only shown #1 UDE don't care about us, #2 Not like UDE is WILLING to help promote it's OWN PRODUCT.....

I explained the card game is a complete waste to me now. Went to the Areana Pre-View and I have to say TOTAL SUCK. Showed a 10:00AM start time there were 10+ people waiting for an 11:00AM Reg and a 12:00 Start time. That's 2 hours of sitting in a game store for people who called from Tucson. They are not my friends but since they are good with the event judges THEY GET PRIORITY(Wasted 7 hours in Gamers Inn). Lucky for me I brought my mini's and so did another player and wow was I happy to see the croud we gathered saying "This looks REALLY FUN." You bet your kester wow mini's is fun. So since I get punished already for doing what I know was right why would I feel I should go above and beyond...

I again have to say it's a total face punch that WE have to DO ALL THE WORK and end up getting skipped over. I have to say there are way to many people getting burned by UDE RULES. I don't do all the card game events but OMG did anyone have anything NICE to say about how these events are run.... I can personally say every event UDE loses more and more players due to it's RULES. They are not perfect, hell they are NOT FAIR, NOT FUN, and Only burnning all the players and fans.

The event was schedule ahead of time I know like 8 people who deff were going to show no matter the location. But as for regular events I play all the time with my 2x brothers and maybe I should just start logging it. At least then we will be "Showing we play by UDE Rules." As for a personal note I can't believe how much I've spent on your products only to be told I don't know what I'm doing.... I guess your right I MUST BE RETARDED to keep trying to enjoy your games(Both collectable and HEAD GAMES).....

    Re: Arizona Officially Forgotten.

You know the more I think about it at the Areana Pre-release there was an extended art quest give to anyone willing to spend $10 in Wow stuff. I seen like 3 people Buy the mini game after watching us play that day. They didn't buy any cards at all... For the same reasons I expressed in the last post. So again what more can I do for UDE.

    Re: Arizona Officially Forgotten.

So, let me see if I've got this right. You want UDE to put a Spectral Tiger event in your area even though there is no record of any sanctioned events being run. How is UDE supposed to know that there are any players in your area or that there are active events being run if they aren't sanctioned?

Even if they did know of the playerbase, how do they make sure that the facilities exist to run a bigger tournament like this? There is a certain standard of organization and judging that is required to run an event where first place essentially gets $1,000. How is UDE supposed to know that there are competent judges and TOs in an area that doesn't sanction its tournaments?

    Re: Arizona Officially Forgotten.

se7en i don't know where you get your information. But i know reg was at 11 and start at 12 for the prerelease. It was on the Cascade Games Website....The week before reg was at 10 and start was at 11 for the realm qualifier. So if you are not going to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, perhaps you could at least do some investigation instead of making wild accusations at the tucson crew somehow holding up the tournament. For us in Phoenix, we love it when the tucson crew comes to visit because they are all a bunch of great guys and they are great competition.

    Re: Arizona Officially Forgotten.

I called the store. And they had it posted on their website. But the group of us waiting were told the Tucson crew was running late and we would have to wait for them to arrive. And I'm not saying they weren't good people but that's what the group of us were told. But since I guess I'm so dumb then why were there about 10 other people waiting...? I'm sure you noticed us playing mini's because there was a ton of people wanting to watch and learn. So the 1 game we played took a lot longer while we explained the rules and what everything meant. I had the big Black and Decker tool box filled with mini's and was showing off all my favorite ones.

Well here's a thought, they could leave it on the calendar and see if they get the minimum players... Otherwise they are expecting me to do their job.... Mantis software is horrible and why do they need to know if there is "Sanctioned events....?" If they get the players it's not like anyone needed to EVER play the mini game before since it's open 1 box and play with what you get..... Seems like they need proof I spend even more money on a game. That's reason #2 why we don't do the sanctioned games because so far people haven't wanted to get burned a 2nd time(IE Card game).
