Singapore Seaccq 2nd and 3rd place report

    Around 14 players turned up for the SEACCQualifyer.there was 2 lionars ,2 plagues ,3 solo rogues(1 umbrage , 2 daspien) , 1 taheo , 1 black ice , 1 varanis , 1 haruka , 3 Emmis.was expecting koozars tho.

    top 4 before playoff :
    1 - Tian Kuang Kai ( Emmi Sprinklestrike )
    2 - Thomas Xu ( "Black Ice" Fizzlefreeze )
3 - Nicholas Lin ( Me playing Emmi Sprinklestrike )
4 - Edward Widjaja ( Lionar the Blood Cursed )

    Top 4 after playoff :
    1 - Edward Widjaja
    2 - Nicholas Lin
    3 - Tian Kuang Kai
    4 - Thomas Xu

anyway here is the decklist ,me and kuang kai tested alot on this deck b4 the qualifyer , i wanted to bring plague and him wanting to use varanis actually , but alot of testing encouraged us to bring emmi , and it is the totally same decklist.

    Emmi Sprinklestrike

    2 Weldon Barov
    3 Mikeal the Blunt

    4 Arcanite Dragonling
    4 Whispering Blades of Slaying
    3 Vengeful Gladiator's Bonecracker
    3 Perdition's Blade
    4 Vindicator's Brand
    2 Twinblade of the Pheonix
    2 Stronghold Gaunlets
    3 Guardian Plate Bracers

    2 Finishing Shout
    3 Pummel
    3 Puncture
    4 Mortal Strikes
    1 Bloody Ritual
    3 Heroic Strikes

    2 Darkness Calling
    2 Corki's Ransom
    3 Bane of the Illdari
    4 Akama's Promise
    3 One Dreanai's Junk

    side:
    3 Cowering Shout
    1 Pummel
    2 Smash
    1 Mikeal the Blunt
    1 Bloody Ritual
    2 Deafening Shout

Round 1 : Huang Haogen - Daspien Bladedancer

    Game 1 : lose die roll (rolled 1 on a d6)
I managed to get a turn 1 guardian plate bracers(gpb) + Whispering blade..but too bad he have a surprise attacks , so it wasnt really very useful..so we traded dmg , managed to destroy the surprise attacks after quite long but he played a boundless agony after that, then we were both at 6 life, but he killed me first while i have fatal on him on the next turn
Game 2 : Sided in 2 smash , 1 Pummel , 1 Mikeal for 2 finishing shout 1 Twinblade 1 Bloody Ritual..managed to have a dragonling + gpb turn 1 again , and him playing his daggers but without surprise attacks.according to what i record , i seem to attack with dragonling quite a few time , and then played bonecracker which added up to quite alot of dmg , i won this with 21 hp left.
    Game 3 : Almost same thing as game 2 , but this time i didnt had a dragonling , it was jus a gpb , with a bonecracker that dealed up to 7dmg(6+1 from stronghold). the dmg i record is his hp : 27 , 26 , 21 , 15 , 8 , 7 , 0 and mine is 30 , 29 , 25 , 23.

I was quick lucky this match , drawing the gpb on turn 1 every game.

    1 - 0 (2 - 1)

Round 2 : Lee Keng Yin - Taheo Skyspeaker

Game 1: lose die roll (rolled 1 on a d6)
i don't really noe how to play this match up , game 1 i started quite fast , i managed to get him to 16 hp, but this is when he played kyria and i responded by mortal striking for 6 dmg.he then tried to heal on my turn but i mortal strike but he managed to play 3 abilities (cos he have 2 dreamstates on the field) so he healed up to 22 then take 6 from mortal again.i then killed the kyria , i then get him to 10 again , then he played another kyria and healed full all the way while moonfiring me to death..oso this game he played 3 band of vile aggression which oso killed me when he destroyed my corki's ransom.
Game 2:Sided in 1 Pummel , 3 Cowering Shout , 2 Smash , 1 Bloody Ritual and sided out 3 Mikeal the Blunt , 3 Guardian Plate Bracers , 1 Finishing Shout. I ran out of paper in this game and was lazy to go get one , so i didnt recorded what dmg was taken. but i rmb attacking him with bonecracker and arcanite with alot of turns and oso weldon barov..and oso i drew 3 mortal strikes to stop all the healings , oso managed to recover after the utopia..managed to win this

    game.
Game 3: sided 1 finishing for 1 twinblade. managed to win this on turn 7 , having a whispering blades, 2 heroic and 2 mortal strikes since he is tapped out.

Mortal strikes is the key cards in this matchup i realised.

    2 - 0 (4 - 2)

Round 3 : King Chan - Haruka Skycaller

    Game 1: lose die roll(rolled 1 AGAIN on a d6)
lost my pen (found it in my pocket after the whole thing-.-) my plan is to mul for the gpb on turn1 again , so i manged to get that on turn 1.but i cnt keep up with his amnesty + rockbitter mealstrom blah blah blah..so again i died this game , atk rak atk OUCH , but i do have fatal on hand nxt turn on him..
Game 2: Sided in 1 pummel ,2 smash , 1 mikeal the blunt , sided out 2 finishing shout , 1 bloody ritual , 1 twinblade..i got quite a good hand this time , but he having a quite lousy one , onli managed  to see a dagger on turn 3 , which i removed quite quickly.obv again i have the turn 1 gpb arcanite dragonling..after few turns playing defense and pumping up the bonecracker i was ready to kill.untill he played 2 kazamon, OMG I WAS DAMN ANGRY WHEN I SAW THIS.. i wasn't really prepared for this , totally secret tech he have..but luckily i managed to strikeout him b4 the 2 kazamon end me next turn..
Game 3 : Sided in 3 Cowering Shout , 2 Finshing shout , sided out 4 mikeal the blunt , 1 twinblade..this time i dun have the turn 1 gpb , but i had arcanite dragonling that did quite alot of damage.then on turn 5 i played weldon barov with pummel to back up incase of lightning arc, this is when he played kazamon next turn and i finishing shout on turn 6 and attacked witha 6 dmg weldon , 3 dmg arcanite dragonling..eventually killing him off after a few turn..

I should understand more about my opponent's deck nxt time ,siding out finishing against a deck that played kazamon is damn stupid..

    3 - 0 (6 - 3)

Round 4 : Tian Kuang Kai - Emmi Sprinklestrike

Game 1 : GUESS WHAT I LOSE THE DIE ROLL AGAIN..but this time its rolling 1 on a TWENTY SIDED DICE!!!!!
we haven tested the mirror for emmi , so i dun really noe who to play this matchup..i was damn lousy player this match , but we're playing for fun anyway i guess..i had like a super lousy hand on game 1 , while he have the godly turn 1 gpb , arcanite blah blah blah weldon and such...
Game 2 : We both showed each other what we side boarded , and it is the same 2 smash , 1 pummel for the 3 mikeal the blunt..this time i had the turn 1 gpb and arcanite but he didnt ,i think i oso got finishing shout and with dragonling attacking him for 3 for alot of turns.. but atlast he managed to win , because im damn bad player..

    3 - 1 (6 - 5)

then we saw the t4 standings , me and kuang felt quite happy , we are not playing with each other..

Round 5 - Thomas Xu - "Black Ice" Fizzlefreeze

Game 1 : won the dice roll (rolled 6 on a d6 , finally the bad luck is over)
tried to mul for a gpb on turn 1, but failed and get a even lousier hand..ill try to recall most of this , turn 1 i played arcanite dragonling while he played xavar , i bring arcanite dragonling into xavar and said pass with a arcanite dragonling on my hand , i feel damn stupid not playing it before i attacked with the first one , i didnt play the second one becos i was worried of taste of arcana.then at the end of my turn he flip to kill arcanite dragonling..nxt turn he played giralos which i didnt do anything to.my turn i played the arcanite dragonling 2 whispering blade and said done , turn 3 he played xanata and suppression on dragonling done.my turn i jus place a resource while i said done..nxt turn he played a myriam and this when i did a mistake, i should have mortal striked the xanata at the end of turn but i didnt, nxt turn instead i played finishing shout and said done.. turn 5 he attack.ed with giralos and tapped myriam and said done.my turn i tried to brand the suppresion , but was fractured , then i brand the suppression again and it was allowed.this is when nxt turn he played scrapper and i was quite dead already , all i rmb was taking alot of 5 dmg from myriam..
Game 2 : Sided in 3 Cowering Shout , 1 Pummel, 2 Deafening ,sided out 2 twinblade , 3 mikeals , 1 Vindicator's Brand.this game was much better , able to get the turn 1 gpb + arcanite dragonling , he turn 1 kilandra.i cnt realli rmb much about this game , he almost won it when i deafening shout and then strike out with 1 heroic 2 whisperings and 2 mortal strikes.
Game 3 : this game i was damn lucky , i was down to like 7 life or something , then i managed to top deck a weapon to destroy the suppressesion on deafening shout and 2 finishing shouts on the field.he scooped up his cards a few turns later , after trying to suppression the deafening again but was pummeled..cnt rmb anything else from this match...

    4 - 1 (8 - 6)

Finals - Edward Widjaja - Lionar the Blood Cursed

Game 1 : won the dice roll (rolled 5 on a d6, he rolled 4)
managed to mul for the gpb + arcanite on turn 1...i was actually winning this game , having a weldon barov mikeal and finishing shouts , but thats when he played a ferocity rehgar took the weldon and thats when everything went down hill , having rehgar and weldon attacking me every turn (soon joined by my mikeal)
Game 2 :Sided in 3 Cowering , 1 Mikeal , 2 Deafening , sided out 2 twinblade, 1 bloody ritual , 3 bonecracker.again i got the turn 1 gpb + something.this game was quite close , i managed to stick a finishing but he cromarius it with a chasing on the field , then i kept the deafening on my hand not playing on turn7 until i killed his munkin then he chased the munkin back to destroy my weapon thats when i played my deafening which cleared his board(i flip my hero the turn b4) and he place another chasing to get the cromarius..i asked him if he top decked it , he said "no , i kept it in my hand for quite long" , then i was there having a *sadface* but still i managed to pull of the strike out on him few turns later..
Game 3 :again i had turn 1 gpb. this game was quite up and down , i think he drew into 3-4 munkins and 2-3 cromarius , managed to deafening finishing but was all cromarius.ed away..i dunnoe about this game , i think i made a mistake , i have gpb , stronghold whispering and brand , but i didnt attack into his hero for 2-3 turns , because i was down to 4 hp and was scared of johnny rottens..if i had attack and him not having johnny rottens (which he uncatalogue species 3 away the turn i was killed) i would have killed him cos i had heroic strikes and i counted that i would have enough to kill him..but too bad, he managed to  munkin munkin munkin away all my armors and such...

sooo , congrats to edward winning alexi barov ea , we were all qualified already , so we only played for the loraala deckbox...

    overall score
    4 - 2 (9 - 8)

the qualifyer was quite fun , i think i made the right choice not playing plague , would oso like to thank everyone who lended me the cards...
also kuang kai should be posting his report quite soon , im quite sure his gonna hijack this post..lol(okay he did it , scroll down to read)

Re: Singapore Seaccq 2nd place report(probably 3rd place too)

Hey Nick! Heh, yes I am hijacking your thread to post my own report- considering that we're playing the same list that we developed over the last 2 weeks (and tested after exam papers the past three days!)... We had a 14-person tournament, and had expected the meta to be full of plague, kazamon, priest aggro, with some amounts of black ice and random solo. I guess we were sort of right, since I faced a Plague, Kazamon, Black Ice, and the mirror, while Nick had fun times against other solos.

Round 1: Reuben Sim (Plague Demonsoul)
Game 1: He won the die roll here, but I had a pretty good hand with GPB and Whispering on turn 1, building up with P blade and stronghold, while he appeared to be in a bad position. I'm not sure what was in his hand, but I suspect that he might had a bunch of dead Promises of Darkness. Here, I just built up my board and struck out with dual wield + 1 heroic + 1 mortal.

Game 2: This was clearly a lot better for him, but I do feel that I gain the advantage sideboarding against Plague. IIRC, I sided out finishing shouts and Mikaels for pummel, bloody ritual and smashes. This was a lot less one-sided with him having multiple drain wills, kilroggs, banish to the nethers and victimizes. Fortunately I had about 3 pummels in this game and eventually struck out with twinblade + double heroic + mortal, overwhelming his newly cast zhar'doom, with a p blade dealing the final point of damage.

Round 2: Mark Tay (Lionar the Blood Cursed- Orgrimmar)
Mark was rather unfortunate to be penalized with a game loss for some illegibility in his deck registration, resulting in an illegal decklist. =(

Game 2: I had the GPB here, but it wasn't enough as he was able to Munkin + chasing multiple times. In retrospect, I feel that we underestimated the Orgrimmar matchup by relying on GPB as a crutch. =(

Game 3: Boarding in Mikael, Cowering Shouts, Deafening Shouts totally swung the match, as I managed to mull for the GPB as well as a fairly decent hand. Drawing into all my shouts (okay I think it was about half my deck) was quite amazing. Plus, props to finishing shout for allowing my dragonling to make ridiculous trades into munkin, doshura and cromarius!

Round 3: Thomas Xu (Black Ice Fizzlefreeze)
Game 1: I played terribly in game 1. I made like a gazillion mistakes, like not swinging with a brand into a giralo, thinking for some reason that he would swing into me. I took an additional 13 damage because of this, I think. As you might have guessed, that's kinda fatal.

Game 2: After mentally slapping myself, I think I sided out Brand, Twinblade, Ritual, and the Heroic Strikes for Pummel, Cowering Shouts and Deafening Shouts. This game went my way as I had the GPB I think, and this would agree with my life total records, showing my game ending with 23...

Game 3: This was a really close game, and it was won on the back of shouts in the late game. Having abandoned the strikeout plan, I slowly beat him for 5 or so damage a turn, defending my equipment and shouts with coweringshout/mortal strike as well as pummels.

    Round 4: Nick!
Game 1: Ridiculous blowout draw and die roll - insane combination. See above.

Game 2: Sided out 3 mikaels for 2 smash and 1 pummel. He did the same, I believe. I felt that I should have lost this, but I think he was holding back too much in the later turns when he could have gone more aggro. I won this off the back of a series of quests completions and draws into heroic/mortals.

Top 4: Edward Widjaja (Lionar the Blood Cursed-Orgrimmar)
I was fully prepared to lose this match, or at least Game 1. No Owned in the deck really makes cromarius, munkin, and kazamon more than slightly irritating. However, I felt that I lost these two games to poor draws. Not only did mulling aggressively for the armour fail, I also only saw it once in the entire two games that we played. Furthermore, my hand in game 2 consisted of arcanite dragonling and brand being the lowest drops. All credit to Edward though- he played the match really well, and congratulations to him for winning. Also, we should have been more prepared for Orgrimmar, rather than shadow priest.

Game 1: Back and forth at the beginning, but once he cast a munkin the tide began to turn, and him rehgar-ing my mikael (I had previously covered a Weldon for fear of this...) practically ended it. He was left with 15, so maybe I should have tried to race a turn before with heroic strike.

Game 2:  Quite a bad hand. I semi-controlled the board, but just couldn't deal with the twinblade that he slowrolled till the end. Bonechewer contributed to Emmi's death this game too! =(

All in all, I felt that it was rather fun, and thanks to our TO Hansen for allowing us to trade packs with him! Also, it was nice to see the fruits of our labour pay off, amidst all the hype about Emmi in recent weeks. Really, I just want my Loralaa deckbox! =D

Re: Singapore Seaccq 2nd and 3rd place report

Congratulations to the both of you on qualifying for Conts!

It was a pity I couldn't be there to get thrashed by you guys - I had decided to bring a variation of Koo'zar along but I had stuff to do. I'm surprised you guys actually sacrificed time to playtest in the midst of your exams. You reap what you sow, eh?

    2327236:

Finals - Edward Widjaja - Lionar the Blood Cursed

Game 1 : won the dice roll (rolled 5 on a d6, he rolled 4)
managed to mul for the gpb + arcanite on turn 1...i was actually winning this game , having a weldon barov mikeal and finishing shouts , but thats when he played a ferocity rehgar took the weldon and thats when everything went down hill , having rehgar and weldon attacking me every turn (soon joined by my mikeal)

    great report,
seeing you have weldon, mikael, and finishing shouts, wasn't the correct play after he'd stolen your weldon would be attacking with your mikael on his rehgar? Rehgar was 5 health due to finishing and should be at 2 damage when he stole your weldon (protect with a 2/2 token). Mikael was 3 ATK and should kill Rehgar. His Weldon tokens would be wiped out during the PPP due to finishing shout. He'd still have a 4/4 Weldon but at least that shouldn't kill you as quickly.

Anyways, do you have the other top 4 lists? thanks

Yeah, it was pretty standard, but with Bonechewer Behemoth (introduced in our realm during RC) and Torek's Assault (cutting Ritual, I think) as well. The 2 smash SB hurt too =( I remembered that he had a boarded furious kalla, but I have no idea why.

I think we lost due to over-prepping (hehe get the pun) for koo'zar/omedus, rather than kazamon (under-prepping in my case, considering how I never saw the preparation armour...).

is her flip really matters? =) i tot jaton is better with wanted hogger... and manhunt..

anyway its just my opinion... or u guys want to share why is it emmi? =)

Luppo lah.. and Emmi's flip is better than Jaton's / Halavar's for this build.
Also, she's way cuter than Vicky / Halley

im talking bout the solo emmi.. which dominating the top 4... and they are not using luppo at all...

yes emmi's flip is better than jaton's and hallavar's, but cost 5 for the flip is not really used,... but i think jaton's quest is better... esp when they are using finishing shout main deck..

Re: Singapore Seaccq 2nd and 3rd place report

basically comes down to the flip.
jaton's and halavar's are irrelevant. as for the quests, manhunt and hogger are pretty good but don't beat emmi's flip to combat rush meta in koozar/lionar.
