So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

I mean I love to go to every DMF on the planet but hell that just is not possible.  How does the man do it.  Is he some kind of mutant and the only power he has is to magically appear at any major WoW mini event on the planet.  Enquiring minds want to know????

My guess is prize support is good in minis, top eighting at worlds and a top of that he and everyone else that do that have full time jobs.

In giving away a bit of his personal information, he actually just graduated from high school a month-ish ago.

So, similar to when I was playing minis games professionally, he has very little overhead and not much need to race forward in other life events.

I think he sold his Spectral Tiger for a gazillion gold. That would probably buy you unlimited teleports to any city in the world.

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

The money he made from worlds combined with the constant top8's allow him to travel to all of these places with minimal costs. We talked about it before and the prize support is not enough that he is going to make any money off of this (unless he keeps winning them all) but the experience of traveling around the world is worth any loss of funds. How often do you get to travel the world and do something you enjoy?

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

LoL I get to travel the world often actually but most of the time it is to defend the great country of America.  If we could only solve are problems threw games like WoW minis life would be great.  I am hoping to make it to a DMF soon although Boston and Gencon are out I have military obligations during those times....

Every time you top 8, you basically *at least* pay for your trip (and unless it's somewhere far, like Sydney, you should actually make a few hundeds on top). Ben top 8'd every Minis DMF as of yet. Also, if he won a Realms, that's another few hundreds worth of free trips right there.

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

Yeah its his T8s that pay for his trips.

    3-5 TCG Top 8, including Worlds 08

T8 every minis DMF, including Wins in Singapore and Turin.

    2nd in Realms in May.

All that is the reason he is at every event.

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

He has another T4 position in DMF: Sydney, the latest update states the ranking for the semifinalist (but oddly skipped the Quarterfinals). So its a battle against him and Zeb and subsequently with either Matt or Damien.

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

He has won 7500 euros cash + other electonics or stuff like that at WoW TCG Worlds...

About Sydney DMF : If they only were 9 at the event, they probably just made a top4 and not a top8.

    ~

Best ranking at weekly draft : 4th (5 showed up and I got a bye :D)
Number of weekly drafts : 44 and counting.
0-4 drop at worlds (pairings suck)
Once won a game in DMF, my opponent didn't show up.

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

I'm sorry people but you all got it wrong.
I talked to him on Turin. I told him, his empty pet bases didn't look very nice when he was playing.
He looked at me and thought for a bit.
I suppose he thought I was a nice guy, so he told me his secret.
He showed me a real miniaturization gun!!
He uses it on himself and he gets to have the same size, more or less, of Elendril!
This way he doesn't have to pay for an airplane ticket. He travels inside his bag on top of one of those empty UBases.
He even told me, laughing, how he has scared a few airport employees, when he uses the gun to revert back to his usual size and to the employees he has just appeared from thin air.
And what's more. While he's on his UBase he has a look at the game nobody else has. He sees the game from the miniatures' perspective and that insight it's what gives him the knowledge to be always on the TOP 8.
So now you know how he can travel a lot and how he wins that many games.
By the way, don't tell him this or he'll use his miniaturization gun on you and you'll spend the rest of your life in a box on top of a UBase and having Lady Vashj, Rethilgore (an albino one) and Crushridge Ogre as companions...
The only thing I win is honor...

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

wait you said he just graduated high school?
damm, that's a waste of time then :O
there 1.000.000 things to do after graduating from high school!
Plus if you live in Greece you then have exams in the end of High School that every student in the country must go through to get a grade and get in a good university using his grade.

I would just love to live in the USA, things seem so easy there....

anyway didn't mean what Ben is doing is a waste of time, i totally dream of doing that as well, lucky him :P!

but ye the money must come from the Top 8s......if i were UDE i would personally pay at least half of the costs for his travels so that he can be at more DMF championships.

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

Well it isn't unusual to take a vacation break between highschool to university. In addition, having earned it from UDE (i would said paid, but in truth he earned it) makes it all that much better. I doubt that UDE will provide travelling expenses for any players though... maybe to judges and reporting staff, players no.

Re: So is Ben Isgur a millionaire or what???

UDE pretty much do pay for flights they give away tiger and laptops, which you then sell and then buy flights.

Not sure how people are surprised that someone who wins a tiger per event can afford flights. Even if he breaks even off a EU top8 you make infi off a local top8 and even more off a win.
Has made top8 of some events
