Pennsylvania Realm Champ Qualifier Results 9/6/08
1st - Charles McArthur with Runetusk 2nd - High Warlock Overlord Matt Markoff with *gasp* Joren 3rd - Tao Wang with Lionar midrange 4th - Jimmy Choi with Kilzin rush
Other noteables: Markoff costing David Bodimer the match vs. Tao Wang because he pointed out Tao's play mistake in real time, allowing Tao to correct it and beat Bodimer (in game 3). Bodimer was the the only one with his record to miss the final cut off of tiebrakers. Bad beats.
Bodimer making a comeback by getting Piercing Howl, Demonslayer, Deafening Shout, and Finishing shout in his draft pod (he only opened one of them).
me 3-0'ing Markoff in 2-pack after our finals match (obviously the real test of skill!)

lol yeah i felt really bad for bodimer yesterday.... i shouldnt have said anything...lol i wasnt thinking : (
i pointed out the fact that if you rebirth an ally b4 the end of your opponents mainphase after they attempted to declare the end of their turn, it reopens the mainphase which allowed Tao to puncture said ally, costing bodimer the game. Bodimers hope of winning that game was Tao not knowing that ruling.
again, i am sorry boddy....
oh something interesting about our realm qualifiers and generally tornaments in our area.... I'm pretty sure the average rating of people at the torny was roughly 2950-3000... if there is still any doubt whether or not the N.E. is the most competitive area for tornys in the world, that should settle it.
i think we had MAYBE 2-3 ppl there NOT in the top 125 in the world...

If he was running Greench, he did a good job of rowing it so that no one would see it and get him a game loss.

Greench is not block legal. And Matt, while the facts are right there, let's not dismiss other factors like players (not me, because I'm not talented) not being close enough or spending thousands on traveling to all of these events every time to prove their talent (eg - Seattle crew). Not to mention, being a gnat's ass away from the Megalopolis of NYC-Trenton-Boston-Baltimore-etc it follows reason that when there is double, triple, quadruple, etc the population mass to choose from, you will get a greater quantity of those who are the "triple threat" (talented, have the time, have the money) than those areas that have a fraction of the people. The fact that those players live and play closer together is also a factor, there might be more people in California than New York state, but they probably never play together, or infrequently. Seriously though, how to do guys get the time off of work for ALL of these events? I need to know these trade secrets, you know. I only have 30 vacation days a year and some of that has to go for Christmas!

Time off of work? That's not the secret. They call NYC the city that never sleeps for a reason...

While the NE is very competitive, its hard to say what the most competitive area is. Only if the NE had twice as many people show up to each regionals would I argue that its the most competitive... We just don't have enough attendance as is.

My gameplan was to discard their hand, wipe their board, and then lock them down with voidfire wand.

Matt does not lie our regionals are tough as hell to get through and the fact they made getting into realms a top 2 thing its going to be hell getting in. i finshed in 13th at realm champs last time around and i made my day 2 at nats but if i compared my games that i won at realm champs and at nats id say the 2 hardest were both against durkin who is right in my home town i was lucky to get the best of him at realms but not at nats. but matt does not lie when he says this area is packed with some of the best player hell just look up the tournament reports we have more more dmf winners and new national winners then probably ne other area of wow players. its a tough day come realms. congrats to mcarthur and matt i was unable to attend i was sad when i heard that i had missed bodimers flip out but i guess im betting that tao would have made the play ne way.
Top 32 at DMF Orlando and columbus, 46 at nats 2008 13th at realm champs, and Q,d for the next realms already. im on the Brink of something... Match record 96-63 (60.3%)

Was there a reason Bodimer wanted to Rebirth during the main phase rather than just wait for end of turn? For lady Vash tokens?

Exactly, he needed to roll for VashJ that turn.

How does Kil'zen rush take 4th place? Not an indictment on the player, but seriously, the deck auto-looses to so many control decks in block. -Jeff-
