    Seattle Realm Q (9/6/08)

It was the first realm qualifier of the season. My team and I didn't have time to test together, so all we had done was a little theorycrafting over e-mail and the phone. We each had 2-3 different decks that we liked and had all come up with on our own and everyone brought all their decks to the event and we all grumbled around for a bit as we made our final decisions.

Four of us ended up seperately deciding on Desecrator control, and one went with Lionar control. Each of our builds had some notable differences since we made them on our own, but it's funny how we all came to similar conclusions.

    Here's the short version:

    After 5 Rounds of Swiss

1st (5-0) Desecrator Control (played by Kevin Lambert)
2nd (4-1) Taheo Aggro/Control (played by Jon Loucks)
3rd (4-1) Lionar Control (played by Luke Chen)
4th (4-1) Desecrator Control (played by Gavin Price)
5th: (3-2) Taheo Aggro/Control (played by Dan Hanson)
6th: (3-2) Desecrator Control (played by Bryant Woo)
7th: (3-2) Desecrator Control (played by Matt Walsh)
8th: (3-2) Fallenstar Control (played by Robert LeFoux)

    Quarterfinals:

Desecrator (Kevin L) beat Fallenstar (Robert L)
Desecrator (Gavin P) beat Taheo (Dan H)
Lionar (Luke C) beat Desecrator (Bryant W)
Taheo (Jon L) beat Desecrator (Matt W)

    Semifinals:
Desecrator (Gavin P) beat Desecrator (Kevin L)
Lionar (Luke C) beat Taheo (Jon L)

    Finals weren't played.

I played 3 mostly-mirror matches throughout the day. I'm not going to lie, it was a little ridiculous.

The top-8 consisted of 7 horde, 1 Alliance, all Control Decks, all Druid & Warrior. There's your current block meta.

Grats to Team Seattle members Gavin & Luke for taking the invites (and to Gavin for getting his revenge against me for Continentals round 9) ;)

Myself and Jordyn Crawford won invites in Roanoke, VA with desecrator. The deck is good. Everyone playing Kilzin got destroyed. Our top 4 were 2 Desecrator 1 Fallenstar and 1 Joren. I doubt both sides of the country winning with this is a coincidence. Our results showed a similar look at the metagame. I would say Druid, Warrior and Joren appear to be the top decks. Grats on your invites.

Luke used Sammy Gilly's Lionar deck from DMF: Indy as a base to work from. It was heavily tweaked (at least 20 cards different) but I would say it played fairly similarly.

Also, the Fallenstar build in the top-8 used Peter Banck's DMF list as a base and tweaked it a little.

The Desecrator builds our team used were around 10 or so cards different from each other but they all played similarly.

    Re: Seattle Realm Q (9/6/08)

Although Kil'zin did very well at DMF, I came to the same conclusion that Desecrator control was very very strong in Block.  Glad I couldnt make it last weekend, the mirror matches wouldve been terrible @@.

Got a really disgusting deck that should rock Desecrator in mind now though that ill try out in Redmond in a few weeks ^^

And you told me I was retarded for playing Druid at the DMF =P.  Well, the version I did play WAS less than optimal but I've been tweaking my Taheo build for the upcoming Realm Q's and it seems like it should do very well.

Well, I got second place at the last beach regional so I'm hoping for the same outcome or better again =D.  Btw, did Adam play Fallenstar?

Guessing it is similiar to a deck being used in Realms in LA. Serpent Form is used to put damage on the horde allies who need it (Brok, Ras). Wastewalker Helm for Voidefire Protection, Tatulla bait plus it works with Form as well to one shot protectors and aggressive allies. Rebirth does many different good things for the deck and makes opponents cry most of the time. Hammer of Naruu for the Adal nonesense people like to run now a days. Pick one of many late game finishers (Ishana and Varimathas are the standards but other options out there as well). Tranq for any number of matchups but specially Kil'zin. Side board Band of E for the equipment heavy decks warriors and paladins are starting to use.

Like mentioned above about each deck have 10 different cards; this deck can go many different directions. Resource hate, med range rush, early rush, pure control...there is allot of options with not just this deck but any druid deck in block really.
