    Mage Denial

    Frost Mage Denial

    Hero: 1
    1 Morganis Blackvein {H}

    Allies: 20
    4 Retainer Marcus {1}
    4 Snarl Hellwind {1}
    4 Water Elemental {3}
    4 Retainer Athan {3}
    4 Brok Bloodcaller {4}

    Abilities: 20
    4 Fizzle {1}
    4 Ice Block {2}
    2 Cannibalize {2}
    2 Portal {2}
    4 Brain Freeze {3}
    4 Brain Lock {4}

    Equipment: 8
    4 Freezing Band {3}
    4 Voidfire Wand {4}

    Quests: 12
    4 The Blood is Life {1}
    4 Dr. Boom!{1}
    2 Orders from Lady Vashj {1}
    2 Chasing A-Me 01{3}

    Side Deck: 10
    3 Metalmorph {1}
    3 Spellsteal {3}
    4 Retainer Mythras {3}

    The concept of the deck is to combo Retainer Athan with the flip or freezing band or Brain Freeze. From there, a turn 5 Voidfire should lock their hand (along with Brain Locks). Hopefully with a WE + Voidfire lock, your opponent will want to scoop.
    I realize this is more of a combo/fun deck, but anyone have suggestions to improve it?

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    once a real void lock is on the table the match is over.. no point in playing it with the intention of playing varen

    Why is that?

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    once a "lock" occurs the opponent can't win.. hence why it is called a "lock" and they will scoop.

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    I know, but isn't that only one duel and you must win 2 out of 3?

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    You cannot stop anyone from scooping.... it doesn't use the chain or anything.... they can scoop before varen's effect happens even after you have declared the attack and turned him sideways to attack.  then they can sideboard in thier hate.   Good luck!

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    Wait, in WoW TCG people have the right to give up whenever they want in a duel and you cannot stop them from doing so? Isn't Varen always a dead card then?

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    Varen's sabatoge will very rarely actually come into play because, yes, an opponent can scoop before the sabatoge will happen.

    However, the net effect is that Varen can be used as something as a forced scoop. If your opponent isn't sure about their ability to win post sabatoge, they'll likely scoop instead of risking the match loss.

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    basically if they don't scoop you've lost the match :D

    ~

    Best ranking at weekly draft : 4th (5 showed up and I got a bye :D)
    Number of weekly drafts : 44 and counting.
    0-4 drop at worlds (pairings suck)
    Once won a game in DMF, my opponent didn't show up.

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    Also bear in mind that when an opponent scoops, they only concede that game, not the whole round. You would still have 2 more games to play.

    And don't say duel, it reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh...

    *shudder*

    Re: Winning the Match in One Duel

    The only real way to get Varen to work is to use his sabotage BEFORE your opponent knows he's going to lose the game. Lets say you have The Bringer of Death, Darkness, and Voidfire Wand in hand, but not much in play. You sabotage with Varen and they probably won't scoop. Then you take control and win. But yeah, you can't ever stop your opponent from conceding.

    Re: Mage Denial

    Okay, I changed the topic and deck. How can I make this a better Mage Denial deck?

    As a side note: I apologize for using the term "duel." It is actually coming from Duel Masters and not Yugioh, which was a pretty good game, if that makes you feel any better.

    Re: Mage Denial

    4 freezing bands is too much... use 2-3 and use the extra cards for other things

    Re: Mage Denial

    Personally I'd run 3 freezing bands and 3 cannibalize
