No matter how much you like or dislike the rulings and overrulings, Head Judges are the final authority at sanctioned UDE events. When a Head Judge is approached with an appeal, he or she will discuss it with the floor judge who brings the requested appeal to his or her attention. After the discussion, the Head Judge will either explain what's right or wrong to the judge before going to the table or will go to the table for more information. After all sides are heard, when the Head Judge comes to a conclusion, accept it or go home. The documents clearly outline that Head Judges are the end-all, be-all authority at UDE events. You cannot at an event overrul a Head Judge but you can convince him or her to overrule the floor judge's ruling if you so strongly feel the floor judge was in error and the Head Judge is about to rule against you equally so.

What Ben said. Clearly I can't literally overule the HJ. I can however I can tell him he is wrong and explain why and get him to agree with my ruling. Which I did in Koln. (not minis but that isn't really the point)

What exactly did you think I was suggesting anyway here, just ignoring the HJ and hoping he goes away?

There's nothing to edit since his unlikely-made and not-at-all funny joke could disrupt how others think the game works, particularly novice players who come to these boards for answers to situations that crop up locally.

Even if there is only one judge at a local battleground for them, that person is THE Head Judge for the event. They can try to reason with him or her, but they cannot overrule him or her. My advice? If you think a judge is wrong, pull out documentation to help concrete your point before he or she says that's his or her final answer.

Most judges are bad at WoW games, the problem is when the Head Judge is too ;(

Only1F and myself are the players involved in this situation, and Corle's description of it is slightly off. In the actual situation, the Judges ruling was at least conceivable, though both I and Schilling disagreed with it, whereas in Corle's version it is absolutely idiotic.

fireblast would be right if this would have happened the way corle descripted it. But it didint happen this way.
But having no clear rules for this kind of situation sucks.

It's obvious that the druid player took a big advantage thanks to the judge ruling.

Which seems biased to me.

If the guy make a mistake and kills himself, calling a judge shouldn't allow a play-back.

There isn't any documentation how a judge should specifically repair a game state yet they do it all the time. So basically this is my opinion.

To give an example from DMF Koln:

Player X and Player Y

Player X had a Thangal in Bear Form with one life left. That player physically removed his Form from on top of his Thangal, annouced a Wrath attack, and rolled dice.

I believe Player Y took an action then realized that game state had been f'ed up. Thangal should have died when he jumped out of form.

The Judge ruled that since Player X never announced verbally that he was leaving Form, that that was where game state was first broken. The game was 'backed up' to the point where Player X should have said he wanted to come out of form. However, now that he realized his error, of course he didn't want to, and was allowed to take another action.

Bad ruling. He showed his intention to use an instant and break form.

Also, PR has specifically spoken those words to me - to use "chess rules" in some situations.

I can guarantee you that movement of the piece will follow chess rules. UDE seems consistent in this and it's player friendly.

I'm not so sure that I see the evidence that the TCG uses chess rules in its tournament procedures. Can you give examples?
