Focus on having 4xcards, and 3xcards. Don't have so many 1 ofs, or your deck will have more random results.

Cheers.
Re: Just got into the game, previously played Yugioh. I had 30 allys, 22 abilities, 7 quest, 7 items. I'll probably cut down the allies and add some quest. I'll list my abilities. Next thing to do is pick up some packs of Fields of Honor (just released) to round out your Drums of War Block collection.

The number of Allies/Abilities/Equipment/Quests varies depending on what type of Deck it is. Some decks do indeed have very few allies and lots of abilities and some equipment. Other decks run a lot of Allies, some Abilities and not much equipment.

Your allies should have a 'curve'. That is, more low cost than high cost, but at least 'some' high cost 'finishers'. Or, you could run some high cost equipment as finishers (although probably not in a Warlock deck :)). You want to think about how your deck will win (Rush, Control and hit big later, or something).

So, for a first deck, you could run 15 Quests/Locations 20 Abilities, 15-20 Allies, 5-10 Equipment.

Or, you could cut the number of Abilities and add more allies

Cheers.
Re: Just got into the game, previously played Yugioh. It depends on what you're trying to build, and even then you'll have to go across all sets to find the right combination. This is the case with pretty much every TCG out there. I tend not to buy packs anymore unless I'm drafting or if I have no other options. That kind of money is better spent on singles; you may be paying more per unit but at least you're not gambling your money away just to get crap rares.

Keep in mind that all sets are legal in constructed play. Unlike Magic you won't be losing certain sets every year.

I'd help you with the deckbuilding aspect, but I'm a bit unclear what you need help with. Care to elaborate?
Just got into the game, previously played Yugioh. We bought a Drums of War Starter Deck, and 5 Blood of the Gladiators packs, and 5 Drums of War packs. I just want to know how deck construction usually works. With Yu Gi Oh, you didn't want to have too many magic cards, or too many monsters. But, now, I see deck list with only 4 allys, and the rest abilities etc. I know that the deck builds vary based upon class and abilities. But, can anyone give me a few guidelines on how a basic deck is built? I.E, the usually number of quest, items, and abilities. Also, looking at http://www.wowtcgdb.com/cards.aspx , many cards are from the old boosters. What boosters should I buy that have the best cards? Currently, I made a Warlock deck with about 20 abilities, a few items and quest, and the rest protector allies. I would list the cards, but I'll probably be laughed at for the probably horrible build. So, any tips for a new player? What packs contain the must have cards?
