Re: WOW ON THE RISE ... LITERALLY

Right now's a good as time as any to get in on tournaments. I imagine very few people have their ideal tournament-ready decks made, seeing as the game was just released. You're bound to win a few matches/tournies (or come close to it) with a decent deck of commons/uncommons/a few rares. ;)

    1178562:
I have to shamefully admit that I was one of the people who went to the prerelease of the TCG just for the loot cards. I ended up with 25 UDE point cards (Which I'd like to cash in now, btw. Week of 23 October is starting to end, you know) but no loot cards whatsoever.

As with me actually playing the game...Well, I do know how to play. Problem is that I'm scared of tournaments simply because I always lose.Wether it's casual play (which is impossible for me because no one around here seems to actually play it) or tournament. (Those days of Magic the Gathering still have me traumatized.)

And I don't do eBay, too problematic with having to send products via the mail. So maybe I'll find a lucky (or not so lucky) kid who wants to play some day to give it to.

We are releasing more product, which should lower prices a little.

Basically, our goal is to print exactly how much is needed, not less, not more.

This will keep card values high in the long run, but also accessible in the short run.

We are opening up our reserves next week, followed by some additional print runs in the coming weeks and months until everyone is satisfied.

    Then, set #2 releases.

Interesting note - We doubled our original print run numbers, and then doubled them again after that and again doubled them after Gen Con Indy demos were so successful. So yes, we have a hit on our hands, hopefully people like the product and will stick with it for a long time. We certainly intend to support it for a long time.

    Take Care,

    Jeff

While I have been somewhat critical of UDE's rarity distribution, I have to say that this attitude is spot on for what I would want to hear.

Print enough so that it's accessible in short term but not so much as to dilute the long term value. Absolutely perfect!

    Kudos....

Re: WOW ON THE RISE ... LITERALLY

The game itself is actually quite amazing. now if i could only get my hands on some cards. No where has it. Include your guys own online store. And the fact that starter decks dont even make a complete deck is alittle annoying. it took me 4 starters, and 2 boosters to make 2 so-so working decks. I really wanna buy more cards but im not paying 150-200$ for a booster box off Gold farmers on Ebay.

LOL Can we get these distributed to the stores so we who wanna play the game (as well as get a chance at the turtle mount) Can actually buy your product?

PS the only way i got what i did was from the Bliz store :-(

Getting my second box tomorrow :)

It's been a great success at my LGS, people play and buy cards like crazy. I hope they will continue to play it :)

:\  I'm still waiting for my first box.  I've ordered two, and both people that I ordered from got the shaft from their distriubtors.

At this point, I'm hoping before GenCon, but I'm not holding my breath.

Richmond Comix (my LGS) havent gouged their prices almost at all. The booster boxes cost $100+ tax and the starters are still $14.99.

Re: WOW ON THE RISE ... LITERALLY

Well, the local EB Games and Gamestop's have sold out, but their prices remained the same.  Some gamestores have raised their prices!  I told them that I understand why they did it, but that I would not shop there when the newer stuff comes.  I worked in a game store for over two years and raising prices may seem like a great idea, but the players remember...  Then they start to wonder how honest you are being with the other prices in your store as well...

Re: WOW ON THE RISE ... LITERALLY

I think with any release of a new product, there is some risk. You can't just assume that because it's popular it will be an automatic hit. How many times have you seen popular franchises or companies try and branch out and completely fail miserably (Somehow XFL comes to mind...)?

I mean if the gameplay of the CCG was bad, it certainly wouldn't be as popular as it is. Even now...we still have to ask the question if any new expansions will make or break the game. How many times have you seen people leave CCGs because a certain expansion introduced cards that made the game too powerful or too easy to cheat?

So yeah, I think the guys at Upper Deck should have saw this coming, but I don't blame them for holding back a little at lauch because of the risk factor.

Re: WOW ON THE RISE ... LITERALLY

Found some at a Target in town and at 2 of 5 GameStop's, the other three where sold out fast. Unfourtanetly prices are up to $3.99 a pack for boosters and no ones heard anything from UDE as to when theyll be getting anymore after they sell out. WOuld be awsome if we could get a time frame as to when to expect more cards into local stores and online retailers :)
