If Blizz made a WoW Minis console game, would it do well?

It can't be that expensive to make a game like that... compared to something like Diablo 3 or the WoW MMO. Wish there were more constructable games made into video games. I spent countless hours playing the old Magic PC game.

It's been done before by some of the TCGs (I think PS2 and XBox both), but I'm not sure there would be much of a market since there are free on-line resources that accomplish the same thing.  Then again, some people like to have things a certain way, and marketing from a console company is far beyond that of the people at Vassal, Lackey, and MWS.

I wanted to give everyone a list of all the trustworthy people who traded with me on this site, but it exceeds maximum character length. To me, that's a hopeful sign.

The vassal version is great, given what it is (a free, fan made game using an engine that has certain limitation), but there are things it doesn't do. A fully functional game that does things like tick up charcters, change health automatically and hosting done on official servers would be pretty cool. I might even buy "booster" packs of virtual goods if it was a fully developed game.

That *could* be cool, but I would probably prefer a Duel of the Planeswalker (from Xbox Live Arcade) deal. If only because my wallet can't afford the collection online and off at the same time. ;)

There's a whole lot of free poker sites but people still spend money on online poker. There's MWS and more, but people still play Magic Online (and let me tell you, drafting can get expensive when you get hooked... it's more expensive than an MMO, that's for sure).

For people who want high level competition, you often can't get that on free solutions. People play harder when there's some money on the line.

Plus, having a program take care of all the minutia of the game would be nice. Makes you lazy though. When I go to Magic tournaments I almost expect triggers to appear magically on the stack, yet they still don't. :P

I mean, at some point its a price to value judgment.  Planeswalker already has an expansion for another 400 MS points (how much is that in real $?), so the model is there to get you to spend more money.  What do you get in the base set and what do you get in the expansion?  I'm not suggesting I would pay 15 bucks for 3 virtual minis, but I might pay 5 for 5 and a chance to get an "epic".

EDIT:  Especially if I don't have to buy the "full game".  You know, spend 5 bucks to start and buy another booster whenever I have an extra 5-spot
