Re: Do you think eBay prices will go up when set 3 is released?

Here's why I think there will be a set 3: Blizzard still wants it. Look, this game is less than a spec of dust compared to WoW itself when it comes to revenue, so from Blizzard's perspective, any losses on this game are just advertising. What's a little cash to keep promoting their core cash cow? Now, UDE may not feel the same way, but I suspect Blizzard will hold them to whatever deal they have, or if not, Blizzard would just make the game itself or find someone else to produce it. In short, the usual economic pressures to have a collectible game make top dollar in the short run probably aren't quite the same with this product.

That being said, going a year between expansions, as UDE seems to be doing, is obviously not an ideal way to promote and sell a collectible game.

Case in point... Someone just listed a lot of 220 minis on eBay which included 7 Epics, a Haruka, and the Bear Form promo, and it only bid to $51 (shipping was $20).

That's what happens when you post in lots. Nobody needs 220 minis except speculators, and they'll pay a whole lot under market value or not buy at all, because the point is to be able to resell individual pieces.

He should have sold the epics and rares separatly, and made a couple common lots.

Very true.  That's also why you put a reserve on anything like that.  That way if it only sells for 51.00 but you wanted at least 100.00 out of it, you're not forced to sell it and can list it another way later on.

I think that auction actually had a reserve, and with game-interest as low as it is, people wouldn't have bid on it as aggressively as is seen with other items.  I agree with the idea of selling the epics separately to get the best price for them, but even then you can't expect too much.  And rather than a reserve, I believe a modestly priced Buy-It-Now would garner more attention

Some of the promo cards seem like they're worth a lot. I don't know if that's relevant to the discussion.

A Mortimer on eBay just sold for $10.50, and another sold for $15ish. Sad times.

Not sad times. We knew it was going to hard to get in the first few months.

We also knew it would be given out at multiple events all year long, so eventually they would be easy to get.

Those of us who had some early made a good profit during the lean months and now the market has stabilized as they aren't so scarce. I'm not upset and I have 5 left.

In addition to everything that has already been said, the Mortimers selling for low prices are a direct result of sellers neglecting to put the word "Warcraft" in the title, not realizing that thousands of sellers use the word "wow" to describe anything from a paper mache puppy to a pancake that looks like Obama.  Correctly posted Mortimers are still selling for $30 or more in an auction-style setting.

The problem with that is eBay changed the 'Buy It Now' feature, If you set a 'Buy It Now' and also have a minimum amount to bid, once the minimum bid has been made 'Buy It Now' options come off. I know, I just sold a very large collection of miniatures and freaked out when the '9.99 minimum bids' were met but my 'Buy It Now' option had gone away.

In order to avoid this you need to choose the Fixed Price (instead of Online Auction) option when listing your auction.  People won't be able to bid, but you can allow for a Best Offer.

yeah but how much was the shipping?

people that usually try and sell that way try and get the dumb ones to bite, that don't look at the shipping charges.. so they charge you like $20-$30 to ship a single

i just looked on ebay and saw 2 of them selling for $21 each and the shipping is $22

It better be shipped in a gold box for that much shipping.

Comparing Mort prices here just seems silly. The realms is this weekend and Mort isn't that great on the map. After that is DMF Vegas, and you can't really use him there.

His price will continue to plummit as long as UDE continues to make him useless on large-competition maps.

Why would people need Morts right now?
