Vassal - Battle of the Boards Round II

You have to love how things just kinda take a life of their own eh?

That all said, I'm happy to announce we have a second round of the Battle of the Boards, set up for Vassal this week!

    Participants:
    Isgee v. Ohmsford

    When: Thursday October 29th
    Time: 8:00 PM EST
    Where: VASSAL - http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=com_downloads&Itemid=26
Note: You will need the latest WOW Minis mods for Vassal to be able to view it correctly. You can download those here after you install the main engine: http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=com_vassal_modules&task=display&module_id=591&page=Files

There is ventrillo info if you would like to listen to the game as well. Please email me at Steelwing73@gmail.com if you would like that information.

Also, please note that we are trying to keep these matches as professional as possible, so if you join us in vent, or on vassal, please do not talk during the match. Vent is provided for listening purposes only, and we should respect both players as if a regular match was taking place in a tournament in person.

I will make log files and upload them to the http://www.critshappen.comCritshappen.com web site as well, so if you are unable to join us, you can watch the "replay".

Now, as far as the match up, here's what you'll see:

    Isgee's Zoorific Team:
    Lady Jaina Proudmoore
    Vindicator Kaustron

I do not mean any disrespect, but I do not think you will win this matchup based upon your ABC choices.

He's running 2 flashes of light right?

As a bit of pre-game, what do you feel is missing from his ABC selection? Chain Lightning?

    -Ben

Isgee is, by definition, a snob.

Re: Vassal - Battle of the Boards Round II

I'm actually curious as well where this is coming from, because other than a couple of choices I made for particular reasons, it's a pretty standard layout for a wall team, not really sure where all the attitude is coming from. Personally I don't necessarily care whether I win or lose, I'm primarily interested in seeing how I fare against one of the great players of the game, because I haven't had the opportunity to make it to any of the tournaments yet and in order to get any better you need to play people who are better.

hey steelwing.. i'm pretty sure you can also mute people on ventrilo can't you?

so the players would be able to mute everyone but the opponent and the judge of the match and the spectators could still chat

Admins can globally mute people.  Generally, you would rather avoid it in case people want to chat in other channels then/later (and there are way to bind keys to talk to specific people so no one else hears you but that person). Globally muting everyone but three people also requires some micromanagement that could otherwise be avoided if people just don't push their talk button.

Individuals can choose to mute other individuals (such as the players muting everyone), but every time a new person logs on, they will have to alt-tab over to the window, right click, mute (after they figure out who isn't muted) and slow down the game. After the game, they would then have to go unmute all of the people (and miss the people who logged immediately).  If you all really want to chat, you can just go to another channel or set up the specific binds to the people you want to chat with.

Chain Lightning is mostly useless based upon my experience with Velen.  I would've replaced Grounding Totem with Purge.  At least you have an answer to Iceblock or other buffs.

I'm also thinking I would've sacrificed Avenger's shield for a cleanse.  Once Savin is Polymorphed, the rest of the team will go down.

If there is an attitude coming from my post, I apologize.  Basically, with my experience with the wall, you at least need one cleanse which you are missing.  You have no answer to Arcane Flux or Ice Block.  I feel that this matchup with Isgee's cards could really be one-sided.

I could be wrong mind you.  I'll check the battle report later.
