    Rulebook Questions - Post Here

    Hi folks,

The rulebook is now prominently linked from the front page. I hope you like it. We just put the finishing touches on it late last week.

Please post here if you have any questions about it and I'll do my best to help out.

    Take Care,

    Jeff

So, if a hero exhausts a weapon to defend with it, do you still have to pay the swing cost? I was just reading the "Quick Reference Rules" and that question hit me.  I had also thought that Heroes defended without having to exhaust a weapon, so that's also news to me. :)

And I have to add that traits seem extremely cool.

I am so mad at myself now for not having an office suite nor Adobe Acrobat installed. I downloaded adobe but ofcourse the installation is corrupt so I have to start over ><

In short: I'll start asking my questions in a few minutes.

Also, can you stack "ongoing" effects? Like multiple Fireballs?

If a hero wants to use a weapon on offense or defense, they must pay the strike cost.

This isn't really a rules question... but I noticed that there is a Druid ability in the rulebook called "Circle of Life" and as far as I know there isn't an ability called that in the online game. (haven't played for a few months though) How often are you guys going to create new abilities that aren't in the online game? And are you guys allowed to use any of the crazy stuff from Warcraft III like Demon Hunters or Pandaren Brewmasters (since they are technically from the same lore, and you can even see a Demon Hunter NPC in WoW)?

Hello, i was reading the very first page of the rulebook when i noticed the starter box comes with a 30 card deck. I thought the card minimum for a deck was 60 cards. At least i read that somewhere. Im confused

From what I understand, for (non-sealed or non-draft) tournament play, it is.  You should be able to construct a deck with the 33 cards and the 2 booster packs inside each Starter deck, though, and play with it even if it has less then 60 cards.

Sorry Jeff, couldn't resist answers questions. ;)

Ah ok, tornament play = 60 cards.
    Casual play = 30 cards?

Hmm i think everyone will play 60 cards even in casual play so they get used to tournament play.

Casual play will normally be 60 cards, too.  I'm just saying that with the Starter decks, you can still play a game with less then 60 cards. ;)

It's been mentioned before that the starter pack will get you a good assortment of cards as a starting point, a way for you to pick up the game and go.  For tourney play (and probably casual play as well) you'll need to get some more cards to "tweak" your deck.

((So, I can't help answering questions either. *shrugs*))

I was reading the part about chains in the rulebook and I'm wondering if the attack is put into the chain as well?
For instance if someones hero attacked my Moira Darkheart (not sure if that's right), could i then (in response to his attack) use her ability (which kills her and takes a piece of armor with her) and then the attacker is exhausted and the attack does nothing??

Thanks in advance, and thanks for the rulebook :)

Re: Rulebook Questions - Post Here

If I'm reading it right, each step of the combat phase goes has room for effects. So once they declare their attack and exhaust their guy, you can sacrifice Moira. I think you could basically use it any time up until the "damage dealing" phase (assuming lethal damage, of course). So, say they attack Moira with a 3 ATK guy, she'll win that fight, but then they play Battle Shout before the damage dealing phase, you could sacrifice her then.

If I remember right, there's no damage stack.  Meaning, damage between your Allies/Heroes and enemy Allies/Heroes resolves instantly.
