Drums of War preview: Player vs. Player Hater

    Original article here.

    Some interesting cards previewed today!

I really like the location cards - not to mention the art (stunning).

What do you guys think of the two weapons previewed?

well nothing for locks to get too excited over, the locations dont work well for me..I mean for others they would but horde ripped deck does not usually have the smaller of the dogs in the fight.

But the Horde Barov...definitly..start turn, get three tokens..use then with sek grimlash to bring back my field..giggity

    Sha'kar for max lulz anyone?

Also, Alliance Barov's a mini Magni. Just that the Horde Barov is really really super trader.

More excited about the locations and allies.

I really like the Alliance ally, because that's an automatic Defias 2 card draw at the end of turn :)

    Cheers.

Re: Drums of War preview: Player vs. Player Hater

I like the locations. I think the horde one would work well with the vexmaster. The weapons - I like glacial blade, but not many people play alliance. Electrified dagger is alright, but useless against alliance. I would rather use cards that work against any deck

wow, and I thought Ashtongue Blade was already good enough!!

I do agree abt the locations though, they both seem a bit meh (although their art is very beautiful IMO). hope the capital cities for each faction are better (have seen Thunder Bluff and it looks good).

of the Barovs, I think Weldon is somewhat better (an almost guaranteed 3 protectors) although Alexi is indeed balanced considering the ferocity the tokens have (hey, maybe we could even have daddy Alexei Barov, the boss in Scholomance as a Scourge ally sometime in the future?).

since this is gonna be the starting of a PvP-centric block, here are some of the other PvP-related stuff I hope to see in Drums or the block's subsequent sets:

    allies:

Vanndar Stormpike (Alliance) + Drek'thar (Horde): the bosses from Alterac Valley are perfect for this block. since we already have a good number of 8+ cost uniques, can we have them at 6 or 7 cost instead? :D   as for Galv & Bal, not sure they're good enough to be in the tcg...

Nathanos Blightcaller: the powerful Champion of the Banshee Queen, the Alliance has a quest in the MMO where you are expected to slay him (and thus, are forced to be flagged for PvP). seems fitting, don't you think? I'd include a Alliance counterpart of some sort, but I don't recall the Horde having a quest where you have to kill an important Alliance npc (someone lmk if they remember one)

    locations:

Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin (Neutral):  the 3 major battlegrounds for pvp in the MMO. EotS doesn't really count since it's a lame bg that really doesn't have anything interesting going on :P

Ruins of Lordaeron, Circle of Blood, Ring of Trials (Neutral): the MMO's arena locations. wonder how this will be implemented for the tcg

Astranaar (Alliance) + Crossroads (Horde): similar to Tarren Mill & Southshore, these two towns are known as popular PvP hot spots in Kalimdor (esp. Crossroads).

Gurubashi Arena, Halaa (Neutral): the former is a more of a PvA (player vs all) spot where ppl compete for a booty run (card draw reward in the tcg?), while the latter is a contested town in Nagrand.

Re: Drums of War preview: Player vs. Player Hater

Im pretty sure they will be adding in the Arenas, seeing as they previewed the merciless gladiator sword which was tagged "arena". Other than that, my hopes are that they add in something dealing with counters on cards, would add for some interesting combos and such, and hopefully some engineering hero required stuff.

    BTW, Electrified Dagger with Elemental
    Precision is interesting

awesome, im the first guy to post w/o an avatar - lemme fix that

The Electrified dagger works well with Stormstrike (and elemental precision if you improve the dagger atk to more than a piddly 1).

Re: Drums of War preview: Player vs. Player Hater

I just don't like the 'Only works on Horde/alliance opponent' concept. Great deck building is based on consistancy, and having a card that's just a Scarlet Kris with flavored damage if your opponent is playing the wrong faction just seems... meh.

Re: Drums of War preview: Player vs. Player Hater

some of these cards are rediculous in decks that have been played recently. horde version of zaritha with field repair bot can wand lock you if you are horde.... lionar and fallenstar gain crazy allies with the brov brothers + finishing shout. not to mention that the horde one fives you three 0 cost allies for the horde location to draw on and the alliance one allows you to defias. the alliance dagger gives shamans lightning arcs 5-8..... some of these will be really good against some stuff that is being run. i can't wait to get back to the states to test these ideas i am getting :)
6 top 8 regionals including one 1st and 2nd twice.

Sorry but draw with the tokens doesn't work since you must target a hord allie and when he deals combat damage to an higher cost allie you can draw a card. The tokens have no faction.

im in the same boat as u man, but the allies seem really good more so on the alliance side just cuz u get it at the end of ur turn and its just three meat walls, plus if ur opponent doesn't kill them u can just swing with them next turn then u get 3 new meat walls that r ready to protect

    new realm placings
    1st/2nd RCQ H Serpent,
1st/2nd RCQ H Priest Big Drops,
    6th RCQ A Poopy Warrior

i think u can see the pattern here, horde = top 8 its a guarantee or your money back (some rules apply)

Just so you know you cant attack with the protectors from the Blue barov.  What you guys think of Last Barov quest now?
