Re: Christmas came early at Blizzcon

I opened a horde booster and got a Slashdance loot card, Varimathras, Ona Skyshot, and Kayleitha.

    Varimathras - 10 honor
    Nathrezim Warlock - Affliction
    Shadow Bolt Volley
    3T 3R 5(shadow)D
Crit: Deal 2 damage to each character in play
Vampiric Aura: When an ally within 2R(including this char) deals attack dmg, heal 1 dmg from that ally.
Legendary: Awards double VP when destroyed. You can play no more than one legendary character.
    2Armor, 2Resist, 11Health

    Deathcoil - 1T 2R - Affliction
Deal 1 dmg to target enemy and move it 1 space away from this character.
Heal 1 dmg from this character.

    Doom - 1T 2R - Debuff - Affliction
    (Varimathras only)
At the end of ticks 5/10, deal 2 dmg to debuffed enemy. When it's destroyed, deal 2 dmg to each of its allies within 2R of it.

Here are Ras' cards as promised.

Ras Frostwhisper: Undead Mage - Frost
    10 honor, 1 armor, 2 resist, 9 health

crit = If the defender is destroyed this attack, deal 2 damage to target enemy.

Chill Aura: At the start of Ras's turn, put a move -1 counter on each adjacent enemy without one.  Remove that counter at the end of tick 5/10.
    Legendary

Frostbolt Volley: 3 tick, 3 range, 6 magic
    Ras Frostwhisper Only
Add 1 tick to the defender and each of its adjacent allies.
crit = Deal 1 damage to the defender and each of its adjacent allies.

Re: Christmas came early at Blizzcon

Thanks for the info, he sounds pretty tight.  I totally forgot that he was legendary!  Which reminded me, have we figured out what is going on with the non-epic legendaries (i.e., Chen & maybe Leeroy).  Leeroy is only 7 honor and yet he has a personalized action bar card.  Does anyone know if his character card says legendary?  I would be inclined to think that he just had a special AB card, however, the monster faction has three legendaries, and one (Chen) is only rare, not epic.  However, Chen is 10 honor.  Because the monster faction has 3 legendaries, I assume the Horde and Alliance will, too (leading to my suspissions about Leeroy).  So, does anyone know who the non-epic legendary for the Horde faction?  And if Leeroy is non-legendary, who is for the Alliance?  Or, is the monster faction just lucky as hell? ;)

Leroy is not legendary and doesn't have his own personal action card.  He comes with Hammer of Wrath and Hammer of Justice, which are both plain Paladin cards.

One thing that might be helpfull is to keep track of what minis were in each booster pack.  If we are going to simulate sealed or draft we need to know the distribution.  Its still a bit early but it couldn't hurt if you have that info readily available.

i dont really think we need to do that.

we'll roll a die for 1 common slot
roll another for a rare slot
then roll a 1/6 chance of an epic, or 5/6 chance of another common. And if need be, flag if epic is chosen.

This is SOP for any competitive CMG I've played to accurately simulate sealed and draft play.  The idea isn't to randomly generate contents, its to determine actual distribution so we can generate and play with boosters that actually happen instead of fantasy boosters that can't.  Anyhow it doesn't hurt you if I do it so if you don't want to report the contents of your boosters have at it.  If the idea is so anathema however I'll make a seperate thread that you can pointedly ignore.

according to UDE the regular distribution will be different, the picture on the box will not indicate the the faction it contains. This was done for blizzcon only.

This was not done on purpose for Blizzcon and it won't be true for full release. That being said, I know that there will be some boosters that reach the marketplace that have this 'feature' but it was not intentional nor will it be something you should expect to continue.

Out of the 10 boosters I bought at Blizzcon I got only 2 duplicate figures and they both came from "normal" arrangement (read: non-epic figure).  Meaning each of them came with 2 different sets of 2 characters.

From the boxes I opened and saw others open, the make up of the boxes seems to be completely random other then the 3 figures are of the same faction.

Re: Christmas came early at Blizzcon

'Completely random' is not how every single minis game I've been privy to to pdate has done distribution.  Normally you have pools for each rarity level.  In this case, the most likely distribution is several pools of commons and one pool of rares for each faction, with the epics in one of the common pools at a lower include rate.  Then a booster is assembled with one rare, one common from pool A, and one common from pool B.  This guarentees that there are a. no duplicate commons, and b. no wonky pulls ( 3 '4 honor' cost pieces as an example).  Its also very easy to explain to an unskilled worker who is stuffing the boxes ( pick one bag from each bin, and put it in the box ).

The pools of commons might be split up in pools of differening honor value 4-6, 7-8 so that you don't get an unplayable booster draw of either high or low honor.  However in this particular game the resource cost of the fig ( honor value ) seems less important then role, so they might split the groups by class.

You're right.  I realized after I posted it.  I was thinking that Leeroy's Battle Cry was an ability card, but it's his on card ability.  However, the overall theme of my question still stands:  what's up with 3 legendaries for the monsters?

Chen is rare and legendary, Archmage is legendary and epic, Ras is epic, but is he also legendary?

    Master Tactician and Rexxar...

Re: Christmas came early at Blizzcon

Good question!  I just saw ten honor and assumed he was.  It would make sense (as both he and Arugal are instance bosses).  So if he is, then the question still remains, where are my horde/ally legendaries at?  If he's not, what's up with the 10 honor?!  And, again, are there any horde/ally that are 10 honor and not legendary?  Why do the monsters have to make everything so damn complicated? ;)

Yes, he is.  That's why I put Legendary right after his Chill Aura power. ;)

Oh, thank god!  I thought that I read that and then I looked and didn't see it and thought I was going crazy!  You've restored my faith in my mental faculties!  (Soooooooo, my question still stands, why 3 legendaries? )
