What has changes is that unscratched loot cards are no longer legal for constructed tournaments, while scratched loot cards remain legal for constructed tournaments.

Could someone involved in the process please explain this odd policy change?

    Re: Appendix Update Today

My guess would be that UDE doesn't even want to allow the situation where someone is playing a valuable unscratched loot card worth hundreds or thousands of dollars.

    Re: Appendix Update Today

why would that be relevant?  the only thing I can think of is to prevent judges from stealing spectral tigers during deckchecks.  but that seems like a silly reason for a strict ban on unscratched loots, and I wonder if there is a better one.

I'm not sure a judge stealing a spectral tiger is any more relevant than a player stealing it... It's still stolen either way, and somebody is going to get a banned from playing/judging.

My guess, like yours, is that it's to prevent any sort of situation where theft could occur at all.

    Re: Appendix Update Today

I guess the main reason for the policy change is that an unscratched loot card can easily be distinguished from another card.
I think it is possible that in a future set there could be a loot card as an important combo piece and UDE does not want someone to be able to use a "legal marked card".

I think this is a good change - and I can't remember seeing someone play with an unscratched loot card, so almost nothing changes...

Back in HoA I had a playset of Hyppogryph loot while I only had 2 non loot ones...

Since you get to keep the lootcard from the packs you open BUT don't get to keep the cards, you would get an unfair advantage if you registred 6 boosters all with lootcards in a sealed (Highly unlikely, but none the less) and then got to 6 boosters with no lootcards, now you would have 6 more cards than the others. Hence the rule!

That's incorrect. Loot cards replace heroes, which don't get registered anyway. Regardless, the change isn't keeping your loot cards in Sealed/Draft, it's not being able to play with unscratched ones in Constructed and the reason for the change hasn't really been explained.

I don't really know what the arguement is, but isn't Mr Sweden right in that if you got to play the loots, you'd have one more card because it replaced a Hero?

Anyway. All this doesn't bother me in the slightest. I try to sell my loots as soon as I get them.

    Cheers.

Ok, I understand what he was saying now. Regardless, that policy's never changed since the game's come out.

    Re: Appendix Update Today

Why do people keep bringing up loot cards in sealed?  Nothing has changed there.  I've pointed that out twice in this thread already.
