    Action Bar & Turn Order
    By John Fiorillo

This week, we’re going to look at turn structure and how Action Bar cards work. Many of you have probably seen some of the Action Bar cards already, and some of you might already know how they work (for the most part), but even the experts out there will find out some new information here.

Nice article.  This game is going to be huge!  Obviously the regulars on the forums here are clamoring for more info about abilities...when can we expect to see more info on stats and abilites of other figures?

How many abilites are going to be in the core set?

How many abilities will there be for each class?

If there were 10 druid abilities in the core set, would the distribution of those abilities be split up between 5 different Druid figures?

If there were 7 Druids figures in the core set, how would those 10 abilities be distributed?

Are ability cards going to be fixed (distribution-wise) to the figures in booster packs?  Like will a Slitherblade Tidehunter *always* come with Serpent Sting and Frost Trap?

Will there be a way to get abilities outside of booster packs and trading?

FYI, All my examples are fictitious

Re: Gameplay Preview: Action Bar & Turn Order

Each figure comes with two action cards, and those action cards are always the same.  So if there are 5 Druid figures, there will be up to 10 different Druid action cards.  I not sure if it's been said that the action cards are unique to each figure, so I guess it might be possible that two figures share the same action cards.

I'm not sure how I feel about action cards that can only be used by a specific figure.  They sound kind of neat, but at the same time they sort of remove the element of surprise of which action cards you're using.  That is, if I'm using Varamathrus, then it's a pretty good bet that I'll be using Varamathrus' special action card.

Also, numbers 5-8 of the action card don't line up with the article.

I think comparing it to heroclix would be fair...only this is better, lol.  I would say read the gameplay preview articles and you will get a good idea of what this game is.  Then come back to the general minis forum for any questions you might have.

Very good article and I'm glad that it cleared so many things up (like the shoot, move, shoot mini controversy)  Some things I took special note of were "Generally speaking, each figure will have two Action Bar cards."  This implies some cards will have more than 2 available to them.

...and "If a character’s name is on the restriction line, it means that character is the only one in the whole game that gets to use that card. (I wonder what kind of characters might get that honor . . .)"  We all are assuming this is the legendary figures, right?  I just hope that at least one of the cards that come with those models can be used by other models.

Re: Gameplay Preview: Action Bar & Turn Order

I'm curious to know if the restriction line on an ability card will ever contain a spec instead of a class. Their are plenty of spells in WoW that can only be used if specced into (such as insect swarm for a Balance Druid).

    Nice article John, very thorough.

Also, numbers 5-8 of the action card don't line up with the article.

I don't know what this means.

I presume Legendary figs will play 3 action bar cards, 1 unique to them and the other two selected as normal.

Two normally, though apparently it will be possible for some figures to have more than two action cards.

Re: Gameplay Preview: Action Bar & Turn Order

I think what he means is that certain scenarios might allow more action cards per character, but standard Arena and Deathmatch scenarios will allow just 2.
