    The Player as a Target

My Question referes more to a specific card
    Blessing of Salvation
    Paladin Ability (cost 1)
    Instant-Protection Blessing
Ongoing: When Blessing of Salvation enters play, choose a friendly player.
    That player is Untargetable.

On what circumstances is the player a target? Rather, would targeting anything on my field be otherwise protected by this card (which seems too much of an advantage for this low cost card) or does this just protect against cards that quote "target player"?
For instance, Molten Core's ability of volcanic lair eliminates a hero, would blessing of salvation make the raid player unable to target my hero since i am the player controlling both the hero and the blessing? (im sorry for going in circles, i want an accurate clarification so bear with me.)

    Welcome to the forums!

Blessing of Salvation is meant to foil cards that specifically target the player, such as http://www.wowtcgdb.com/carddetail.aspx?id=1341

Re: The Player as a Target

Note that player (or opponent as it references to opposing player) and hero are two different entities. One in in reference to the Hero card type on the playing field while the other specifies you as the player.

Certain cards actually target players. While the more common cards such as Hammer of Justice do target the hero, a fair bit of cards such as Eye of Kilrog (and a number of priest cards) references to the player. As such, Blessing of Freedom and Blessing of Salvation provides different functionality.

As Volcanic Lair targets a hero, you have to use Blessing of Freedom to interrupt its effect. Note that Garr has a power which targets an opponent (opposing player) which can be interrupted by Blessing of Salvation.

Some people learn, some people don't. For me, I can never correct myself to say Julia Graves as opposed to Julia Roberts

Thanks, it was getting really confusing to try to sort it out on my own. in which case, it sounds like i want blessing of freedom, not salvation.
