When you first played the game...

When you first started the tcg, what stupid mistakes did u make? Mine was getting a human hero in my starter and not putting seraph the exalted in there because he was a 5 for a 1/5. (not including the ability, I didnt read it at the time).

Yeah i would always keep thinking that i had to attack all during one phase and do my calculations based on them blocking with their allies....

Re: When you first played the game...

When I first started, I wanted to use Magic terms, but got out of it fairly quickly except using the term "tap," which still slips out from time to time.

The other think I kept forgetting was the flip ability of the hero...  I don't know how many times I forgot to flip Omedus...  :(

Re: When you first played the game...

I still use Magic terms...especially "tap".  I highly doubt that I will stop anytime soon because it's just easier to talk that way.

Re: When you first played the game...

Heh, I agree that saying tap is easier. The annoying thing for me is I say tap in WoW games and tournaments, but exhaust in M:TG ones. Most WoW players know what tapping is, but Magic players are often confused.

I thought that your hero unflipped at the start of your turn. No wonder I thought Tazo was broken.

Re: When you first played the game...

Oh lord, I never played quest at the end of turns, always waited for my turn. Never realized it until like 2 or 3 tournaments later. "Oh?! I CAN DO THAT."

And, flipping my Hero, I forgot to do that with Mazar...( I still forget to flip Marlowe Felsworn.)

Re: When you first played the game...

Yea I still say tap. Its to easy to say. I had hard time trying to figure out if quests were the only things that could be resources. I also had the Forementioned "State your attackers on one turn" problem. I issued attacks to everyone cause I thought thats how it worked. Then felt dumb for not knowing lol.

My biggest mistake was that I did not buy enough packs to build a 60-card deck.
Trying to get others to try new things since 1999.

Re: When you first played the game...

Not reading the manual provided in the starter kit.

I had my friends teach me the game and he taught me that Heroes flip back face-up during ready step. Ta'zo and Grennan were absolute beasts with that ruling...
