Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
792991:WEDNESDAY'S@ Who's On 1st Sealed Deck Event w/ FREE Extended Art Promo Card
Hi all, We are Proud to announce Sealed Deck World of Warcraft Events EVERY Wednesday @ Whos's On 1st located in Dublin. Our Sundays Constructed has been a huge success so we are now adding Sealed Deck on our list of events.
Date:Wed 11/29/06 Time: 6:30 p.m. Sign up 7 :00 pm Start Fee: 25.00 Comes with 1 sealed Deck+ 2 additional Booster(total with deck is 4 Boosters) Place : Who's On 1st in Dublin CA 94568 (behind Caspers Hotdogs) Prizes will be based on attendance
As a Bonus we will be giving away a FREE Alternate Art Promo Card to all who enter for the first week or two.(While supplies last)
Thanks and lets me know how many are interested in this, they will be sanctioned events as well.
Tournament ran very smoothly. Started on time and 12 people attended. Had a great time and it was good to see quite a few people show up to this event. Who's on First says they will be running Constructed every Sunday but will be doing sealed deck events every other Wed so the next sealed event will be on Wed December 13th probaly the same time. Jeff the owner said he is up for anything really and appreciates the feedback he gets from tournament players on what days to play. I have been told many times that if people come he will do whatever he can to cater to the competetive players and will teach whoever comes in that doesn't know how to play. His attitude is don't be afraid to learn just come in and have fun.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
Glad to here that there is a good Wednesday event going in the Bay Area, even if it's only every other week. I'll add that info to the calendar. Did I get everything else right?

WEDNESDAY'S@ Who's On 1st Sealed Deck Event w/ FREE Extended Art Promo Card
Had a great time and I agree, the tournament went pretty smooth. Sure would be nice to see a few more show up, but was fun anyways. I like the fact that there is someone trying to get some organization out there, but with 2 shops in the bay both running on Sundays, it makes the players have to pick and choose.
I agree with ^ about Jeff. Great guy that cares more for the players, and the game, then the money that can be made by selling it. The shop is pretty much a place to hang out and play games,.. that just happens to sell cards. I can't make it very often, but when I can you'll see me there.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
The price for the sealed tournaments will fluctuate with our supply of cards. Last night we did a starter and 2 extra boosters (4 total boosters) for $25, but we most likely won't be able to do that exact setup in two weeks. We are going to try and stay around the $20-25 area for the sealed, but that may include more or less packs. Once the next wave of product is released, it should drop even further but the shortage right now is making it hard for us to sell the product at the prices we would like.
We are also planning some sort of Onyxia event next Wednesday (December 13th). I really don't know the exact details, we will probably do an announcement post after Sunday's tournament and we have a better idea of how the deck plays and exactly what our players are interested in trying versus the big dragon.
Thanks for the feedback guys, and keeping the thread going!

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
Games of Berkeley got their Onyxia decks in yesterday, just in time for our weekly play. Didn't have tooo many people, about 8 total through the night. But we did get a couple of test matches in against Ony. She slaughtered 3 decks and later slaughtered 4. None of those decks were designed with Ony in mind though, so we'll have to see how things go.
Next thursday at games of Berkeley will be the Onyxia Challenge event. Teams of three can challenge the black dragon for $5 per player. Get to stage 3 for some Onyxia treasure cards. Defeat the dragon and win the whole treasure pack. Any un-won treasure cards will probably be given out as door prizes.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
Gamescape
Trying to start up Friday nights, i know this conflicts with alot of
you magic players but it works best for the store, we are currently
hoping to run Onyxia Challenge next week. So all are welcome. Our
community is small, about 4 players but we are looking forward to
meeting new challenges.
We were also able to beat Onyxia today with 4
Horde Hunter, Warrior, Warlock, Rogue.
I understand that we all have to raid in the late afternoon so i wont
be able to do it next week, but the week after next i would like to do
a constructed tourney at 11am - about 3pm or whenever it ends, or if we
have boosters in by then maybe a draft.
We are not judged yet but working on it and our Hobby league is in the works also.
If you want to let me know your coming or if you ahve any questions please email me at UrbanMonk@gmail.com thank you

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
I've added Gamescape on Fridays to the weekly calendar. Thanks for the info.
As to Onyxia, the 4 decks that lost to her when I played her were all
normal constructed decks, not at all modified for Onyxia. That
was a pretty big disadvantage. We'll see how things go on our
Onyxia challenge in Berkeley next thursday.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
Reporting about the Who's on 1st Sunday Constructed Tourney. Very nice turnout had 21 people who played in the tournament and 24 people show up. Had a great time one thing I noticed about this tournament more than all others is that there was a really great pool of talent. All of the people that entered the tournament brought awesome decks some of which I had the privledge to play against. This is the place to be on Sunday's and am looking forward to seeing everyone on Wed December 6th for the Onyxia event at Who's on First. By the way for those of you who had the long commute to come to the shop thanks I was very happy to play against you guys and hope to see you next Sunday as well as Wed if you can make it.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
Updating on Game Kastle's events:
GK's weekly Sunday event (Constructed) is being moved to Saturday due to the large number of Bay Area events being held on Sundays; this starts on 12/16. These tournaments should be entered into the system shortly. Sunday will become a casual play night, and Tuesday will remain Booster Draft night.
Also, Game Kastle is ready to host Onyxia Raids for all comers on any of the above days. Ask for Ryan if you wish to challenge Onyxia, the format is $10 per person, maximum team size of 3. Prizes are a $5 Game Kastle gift card for each player for participating, 4 treasure cards to be split among the team if wiped at stage 3 (2 unc, 1 rare, 1 epic), and a full treasure pack for the team if Onyxia is defeated.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
I know Sonoma County isn't exactly in the "Bay Area" (from Berkeley it's about a 45 minute drive north on US-101), but Outer Planes Games is holding a WoW TCG Constructed this Friday at 6 PM.
For more information, here's a link to my post: http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/WOW/COMMUNITY/forums/thread/420882.aspx
Outer Planes Game is UDE sanctioned, has a lot of floor space, and there's usually 20+ people there on Fridays. I hope to see some die-hard WoW TCG players there to test out a new version of my deck!

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
Reporting about the Who's on First Onyxia Event. 2 Teams showed up 1 team of 3 then a team of 4. As far as I am concerned that is pretty good. I don't know how the rest of you guys feel but PvE in a TCG isn't what I call interesting. However, Jason the Onyxia player made it fun and with Jeff the owner screaming are they dead yet constantly I had quite a bit of fun. DAMN YOUR COUNTERSPELLING MY FROST NOVA ONYXIA. No one beat Onyxia but the team of 3 managed to get 7 damage counters on her in phase 3. Whereas the team of 4 got her into stage 3 as well but no damage counters. Hope to see everyone this Sunday for Constructed Tournaments this week there will more than likely be 24-30 people at Who's on First Dublin (I say that because every week we always get more and more people and since last week 24 people showed up and that didn't include many of the others that couldn't make it). Remember Sealed Draft will be on Wed of this coming week as well at Who's on First Dublin so mark your calendars.

Re: Bay Area Calendar - Regular WoW TCG Play
Our Onyxia challengers at Games of Berkeley were more successful. The team of 3 who came together were super-tweaked with Hands of Timmy / Rak Skyfury, Dragonslayer signets, and a very solid Shaman/Warrior/Mage team. Think 4 counterspells, 4 shield bashes, 4 frostshocks, 4 frostbolts, 4 frostnovas, 4 purges, and maybe 12 Confessor Mildred. It was disgusting how well they did.
A pickup group of 4, hunter/mage/shaman/mage also won, mostly due to horrible draws by Onyxia and that I didn't set up her tweaked deck properly. I've certainly learned a lot about both tweaking Ony's deck and playing her. I've also learned that if you don't draw any AOE before stage 3, allies will destroy you completely.
The 3rd game was a pick up group of 5, and Onyxia actually won. It was close though, they did 90 damage. But by that time, 2 heroes were dead, the table had been Burninated, the opponents had used their quests, and Ony had 3 dragon hides in play. The rest wasn't pretty. Good game though.
We ended up giving out 2 treasure packs worth of prizes to the various players and most people had a lot of fun. It's possible that in the future teams will be able to come in and challenge Onyxia on any Thursday for prizes. Not sure yet though.

You might find it interesting that the same group of 3 got pounded into the ground by Game Kastle's Onyxia a few days later. :/
Game Kastle's Saturday Constructed begins at 4pm.
