Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
I think Army of the Dead is a perfect reason for people to stop complaining about Hunter getting the shaft. One card gives instant weight to the DK class. A similar card could jumpstart Hunter any set now.
Chimera Shot actually gives me hope for the Hunter class. All of the Stings refer to ranged weapons, this might be the set where Hunter gets a good ranged weapon.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
I think it's really premature to declare something overpowered in a limited environment we know nothing about. I would not be surprised at all to see some cards that can deal with the situation you describe, anything from specific types of counterspells to destroy all tokens effects to Invincible allies. Who knows.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
Maybe I'm being premature in this, but I can't imagine what kind of generic card (i.e. an ally or all-class equipment) could possibly deal with this well, without being narrowly tailored. Big AoE's and good interrupts are not cards they print for generic use (except maybe at rare and at a large cost), they are almost always class-specific. Maybe an all-class trinket that said "at the end of the turn, destroy all token allies"? Would a card like that be main-deckable? Army of the Dead is just so powerful, and at such an affordable cost, specifically in
a limited environment (due to the fact that all limited decks are
ally-based). It may be premature, but I have a feeling that Army of the Dead will be the bane of a limited player's existence, and cause WAY more "oops, I win" scenarios than ANY other card ever in WoW. I'll eat my words if I'm proven wrong, but I really feel like this is bound to be the case.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
This was a good preview. I like the DK ability and the Helm the most. (I have a BE DK deck right now w/Arcane Torrent and Solanian's, as well a s an enhancement shaman deck that is constantly evolving). As far as it being overpowered, I think there will be an answer to this card in this set. I think it is good for the DK players to have access to a card this good, because it gives mage players something to sweat about lol.
I also like the mage ability (even though I am not a fan of clothies), but it may be too little too late for that card to go off unless there is a way to increase the counters.

I say put something more on the line. Perhaps eating a hat at a DMF.
Anyway, I sort of agree. Normally these effect incentivize you to not play allies, so they won't be caught up in it. This however, doesn't punish you and in some cases rewards you. On the other hand, how often are there several allies out in limited?

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
I agree with Anthony 100%. I have no idea why they printed such a absurdly powerful Limited card for DK when they had the perfect opportunity to place it in the Death Knight starter for constructed balance. It actually really pisses me off. The card is much more powerful than Misery, as at least Misery required some setup to work optimally. Misery works much better in a deck that plans to play resources every turn than one that doesnt, etc, so its not very good in a rush or tempo oriented deck (not that I wouldnt still play it, Im just saying a card like Ishannah or Misery has its limitations and at least requires you to build around it for its 'I win' scenarios). This card is still bonkers even if all you do with it is kill one of their guys and make one 3/3. Its completely warping to limited, especially sealed deck, and I cant foresee how any deck could ever win against a competent opponent with this in their arsenal. (unless if the DK flips and other class cards are truly terrible, in which case that brings balance issues onto its own). Hell, the card would still be good in limited if it cost 9.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
I think its pretty obvious that army of the dead is unreal in limited (and yes, i think it is better than misery but about on par with Ishanah). But it's not like its a subtle card. Obviously R&D knows that effect is busted in limited that is all about dudes. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it won't be as stupid in limited as it appears it will be... at least until we've seen the whole set.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
For a start, its not working on WOTF allies, second DK is not a class like warlock which has Eye of Kilrog, Discard, so interrupt will wait for it - i am not too afraid of it in constructed - Block we will see

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
As the game progresses, it would be only natural, if we got some updated neutral abilities.
Tokens are normally kinda expendable, so would it be totally off with a card like:
Unwelcome Visitors
Cost 5, destroy all Ally tokens.
Or maybe Cost 3 + X.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
747828:I think you're missing something big, and I ask you to envision how you play against this card. As you said before, when playing against a board sweeper like Invoke the Nether, the right play is to just lay one big threat at a time, and force your opponent to eventually waste the board sweeper as a 1-for-1.
However, the only reason that strategy works is because your opponent cannot lay his own slew of allies, because he will lose them to his own board sweeper if he has to play it, and he won't have as many threats following his board sweeper when he does play it. However, Army of the Dead solves both of those problems. The DK player can commit as many allies to the board as he wants, and it creates a lose/lose situation for you. Either (a) you play your own allies out to counter his dominating board presence, which allows him to Army of the Dead and make a massive number of 3/3's and win the game, or (b) you don't play out more allies, and he just wins via his dominating board presence.
So, I guess my point is, that there's no good way to play around the card. Your strategy of "play 1 good threat at a time" just doesn't work against Army of the Dead.
You might be right, but I think the way to play around the card would be to keep the board clear. Make trades even if it's with your 5 drop against their 2 drop. But yeah, for game 1 if you don't know they have this card it'd be pretty tough.
I think Misery is stupider but we'll see.
 My entire collection for sale.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
At least when it's Scourgewar only, you need to assume they have this card. Heck, I'd be tempeted almost force DK if it got my opponent worried about AotD. As the newer sets come out, the chances of this card appearing decrease, even though, playing against a DK should still be done with caution.
The block could also be filled with lots of "when this ally is destroyed or leaves play" effects that would make it dangerous(or advantageous) for the DK player to play Army of the Dead. And who knows if Invincible will appear on cards in this set?
Let's just hope that there is enough decent weapons and abilities in the set for the classes that want to go ally light.
No quote for you!

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
In the end, army of the dead is still a rare. Yes it has an awesome ability. It is also an obvious powercreep compared to the Warlocks turn 6 remove all. However, I don't suspect it will have this "OMG Limited is ruined due to this card" I think it will have as much impact on limited as Adam / Dimzer had in previous block.
I have to admit, with only scourgewar out, the chances of seeing this are larger. However, this is only temporary and as far as I can see, will only apply to the first Realm Championships. Seeing that the format form Realm Qualifiers will most probably be something more special (thus, not just Scourgewar sealed) I don't even think it will have this kind of impact there...
Conclusion, don't make sucha big fuss about this card, it won't ruin limited. It is a bomb, but I won't be afraid to play limited because of this card.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
Depends if there are any cards like engulfing blaze. I'd imagine there will be some anti-token mechanics around as well.

Re: Scourgewar - A Gunslinger's Glimpse
When I first heard about this card at worlds, I thought it killed all allies, and then gave you a 3/3 for each OPPOSING ally destroyed that way.
I thought that was a great card.
I think its the fact that it also gives you a 3/3 for each of your OWN allies that makes it completely ridiculous. You could flood the board with 2/1s, and use this card to upgrade them to 3/3s even.
