Re: Ping: New England players (aka BigTroll...etc)

I hate to be negative, but Hunt for Illidan becomes legal on Friday. That means it won't be legal for the event. I don't think anyone is going to want to play decks that don't have Hunt in it, but I don't think anyone will object to play with Hunt allowed.  We'll have to see what happens.

Now to decide what to run... At least my Fire Mage deck is pretty much done.

Tony put a tournament together for this Saturyday or Sunday.  With Hunt legal alot of people will want to play now.  Also Jon I don't think Thursday will be sanctioned so I believe we can play with HFI if we want to.

Its good that we have a new store that is supporting WoW but what about the existing stores?

This thread was started about UDE wanting to get WoW more exposure in NE, has there been an update on this?

    well guesssing that means no...

I do understand that UDE is gearing up for Gencon but if ya gonna start an official thread about increasing support in New England shouldn't you keep the players updated on the status of named support?

really hoping the minis game doesn't have this problem...

We are still investigating ways to help boost this play area.  There are currently only two stores that are running any kind of sanctioned events; YMG and Gaming Etc. There could be other stores that are running battlegrounds, but they are not being reported. Tom, we are trying to get more interest in this area, but unfortunately we can't force stores to hold events.

"we are trying to get more interest in this area, but unfortunately we can't force stores to hold events."

maybe you need to look at why stores aren't holding events...its not for lack of players (as several Mass thread show) so it must be that the stores don't think its worth their time/money. Maybe you need to look at what stores are getting when they pay for battleground (and other) events.

I get the impression from Danger planet (which has 4+ players each week) that its not worth the stores time to host and run official WoW stuff. Have you contacted any of the stores in the area and asked what they would need/want to run events?

Re: Ping: New England players (aka BigTroll...etc)

i think if YMG put a weekly event up instead of just scheduling random events at the last minute, more players in the greater boston area would start showing up.  the HFI release celebration only had 3 show up due to them posting it like 1 week in advance.

i would play any weekly event at YMG, but i can't do the thursday night event at over the edge most weeks, and i definitely cant do any events at gaming etc. without a 1 or 2 hour drive commitment respectively.  YMG is in a central part of the metro boston area and a lot of people from the north shore, south shore, or downtown simply will not commute to over the edge in worcester just out of sheer inconvenience.  not to mention we'd have to drive an hour after the tourney and then get up for work at 6AM the following day.

i realize this isn't the fault of UDE per say but if YMG had more incentive to hold a weekly event, i think we would see it happen, and we would definitely see more players come out of the woodwork.

Re: Ping: New England players (aka BigTroll...etc)

Wow, it's really nice to see a thread like this.  I'm living in Augusta, ME and there is NO regional support for WoW at all unfortunately.

1 - I play with anywhere between 4-8 of my local friends at one of our houses on odd weekends we have free.

2 - We would love to see all kinds of events run in our area, but anything more than a weekly draft of a Battleground would be really ambitious.

3 - Maine has a small number of gaming stores, but most are over run by mini players.  These include Greenhouse Games in Gardiner and WarZone Games, which is soon to be moving to Bangor, the two stores I usually go to for cards.

My small playgroup has long talked about making the trek for a DMF- Boston!  Make it happen!

Re: Ping: New England players (aka BigTroll...etc)

I realize that UDE is in the middle of Gencon but I have to say this thread was started weeks ago by UDE and there has been NO change in the WoW support in New England. I do not count a store that was in the works before this thread to be a change and it certainly wasn't created due to UDE increasing support in the area. I hope there are some face to face conversations at GENCON that move this issue forward, but right now UDE has done nothing more in helping New Emgland get better support/more tournies. Right now I have shifted my attention to "A game of thones" cards game...great mechanics and FFG is putting alot of  small scale support into it (i.e helping local stores run events not big money/item tournies). if you are at Gencon I reccomend you stop by the FFG booth and check it out.

its been a month since this post was active, any update from UDE and/or local stores?
I haven't heard of any stores being courted by UDE.

Re: Ping: New England players (aka BigTroll...etc)

Realm Qs are happening all over new england (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT) and the Realm Championships is taking place in MA, too.

What more do you want right now?

Plus The Wizard's Duel in Brockton and Over the Edge games in Worcester have started doing Hobby League...

    It's changing.
