Oh, also as a fun thing after, my buddies came over and we did a 3 man Arena Grand Melee.

Only using the Horde Melee set (I got to mix in the alliance set with it, forgot they differ)

It was fun, we locked in the Ongoing ability that your first card each turn you can play without paying its cost, it got nuts from there.  First person to utilize it was Matt to my right playing his Priest Glad armor for free on turn 4, returning my 3 allies to my hand - ass.. Then I play Geoffery for free, and discard a card to pop his glad armor (luck draw!) We were playing with our 30ish cards from earlier so we almost all out-decked ourselves.  Then a card popped saying reveal your top card and put that many murlocs into play, I hit zero and 1 of my friends got 6.  That was pretty much game changing.  It came down to my wife and dog (that the room agreed was my son.. ***) nearly outdecking me.  I draw my last card, with my friend at full health and 4 allies in play tapped, he has 3 cards in his deck, and I have a 3/4 in play - looks bad.. Draw a surge of adrenaline, and pull the ongoing: your deck is a protector 0/X where x is the cards in your deck.  I attack his deck for 3 and pass turn.  GG

BTW: Did anyone ask Game of Berkeley why they didn't put in for any Continental Qualifiers? Someone needs to talk to them about this befoer next season so we actually get some Qualifiers next time.

I would send an e-mail to Brian from the Sneak Peek Info page for Games of Berkeley.. However, I think I know the answer.. Most Saturday's/Sunday's they have other events going on and very little cramped space.  30 of us spilled over in the dungeon downstairs they have for us to play in.  There is no perfect Venue - I am thinking about going there tonight, if I do I will talk to Brian.

Nick, did your friends enjoy the game?  I'm glad you made top 8.

I meant to stay a bit later and chat, but wife tugged on my leash.  

 

Are we going to have a release game at C and J's?  It was pretty fun playing limited.

It would be nice to have the release at C&Js.  I think Berkeley gets more foot traffic though, considering its right off BART and a bit more central for many players.

Mike - My friends seemed to have a good time playing, and I gave them a huge box of all of my spare uncommons, and threw in tons of commons, so hopefully they can build some decks and play up in Sac or down here again.  I am a bigger fan of limited now - I think it is my favorite format, despite already having cards for Constructed, and doing okay in draft.

It would be cool to do some limited @ C&Js or more draft. I am going to lean towards showing up for that more now that the block is out. A lot of Saturdays are bad for me now. Hoping we can get some games on Sundays. Anyone? 

Some edits - Both of my friends won Deck boxes (on the 1 round of 5 they won - lucky),  I won the playmat vs Jesse - ended up giving it to my friend that wants a huge mousepad...haha.  They are more into the art and function/using them, and  I rather just play the game and have enough nail to pickup the cards.

Weekends become bad for me after July 13th, my shift changes to Sat-Tue nights for 4 months.  I will be available on Sundays starting in November.... :).  

 

 

Cool, we can find something that works, even if I got to take BART to Concord during the week.

Oh Matt, I'm so sorry. I picked up the last two DK Starters just after lunch today.

They only got 1 box in!!! However, Chris says they should get more, possibly by the end of the week.

Where are all these phantom people coming from that go into C&Js buy WoW TCG product, then never show up for Battlegrounds?  This should be looked into, and I was hoping to pick these up there also, but it can wait till July..

Muhahahaha, sorry Nick and Matt.  Matt are you sure noon? I got there past 12 and called around 11:50. Anyways I got my 2 packs. I have an idea for the DP starters i think we should save them and give away to new guys. I ended up with a Shaman and Druid.

I will keep my DP starters sealed for giving away.

And Matt, what's with the horrible timing? I was just incredibly lucky yesterday because I had to go back to Pleasanton early. On any other Tuesday, I wouldn't have been there until 4:30 at the soonest.

I'll have the DK cards with me on Thursday for you to drool over Matt.
