    Re: [Official] Loot Card Information

I know Im probably in the minority, but Im a bit dissapointed in the points system. I have no plans to play the game in tournaments, Im collecting the cards purley on a collectors basis of obtaining every card.

Im already 3/4 of the way through collecting the whole first set and was hoping that there would be some "cosmetic" ingame items available for the "casual" TCG player that can be usuable ingame from using the points Ive collected so far.

I was lucky enough to get the Tabard Loot Card during the process of buying booster packs, which is the item I was hoping for. Only having 3500 UDE points it seems there wont be much chance of me every obtaining any more ingame items which is another reason for me buying TCG packs.

I did however think for a small moment I could also obtain the blue tabard by redeeming my points, but alas I need to have 25,000 life points to start with before I use 2,500 to obtain the blue version of the tabard. Sux to be me. ;)

I planned to simply trade the "dupes" I had with other players in hope of finishing my collection of the first set. My first batch of dupe cards, which was about 150 cards, I donated to a local tournament so people who planned to play the game could make better use of them than I could.

I suppose the points rewards for ingame items follow the ingame rules, if your not hardcore you dont get the phat lootz.

Hopefully the special cards that are available in the future from the points redemption are cheap enough for me obtain something useful from the money Ive spent on the cards so far.

Anyway my rant is over...peace out.

    Re: [Official] Loot Card Information

The points system is a very nice idea, but as it stands right now, it's kind of an expensive one. In order to get the tabard, you'd need to spend $750 in booster packs (give or take.) I hope that you either go through with the random point boosts (5000 would be a very awesome number) or make tournaments and other non-booster point rewards worth more. Or both.

    Awesome idea though.

    Jeff,

Thanks for the amazingly swift reply to this issue.  I could not be more happy with the way you have been available to post about the developers' thinking.

The range of prizes seems great and really does make my me want to keep collecting and playing.  Maybe you could tap into the already existing out of game merchandising to add even more prizes that would be attractive to the WoW player base.   Things like T-Shirts, Figures, books and posters (there is a neat map poster I covet but can no longer find around) would be a great addition and probably in the same price range as the packs and cards to produce.

    Thanks again for the update.

    Re: [Official] Loot Card Information

I would like to know what steps are being taken to prevent code fraud. I've already had one code get turned back as invalid, and I know others have had even more than that already taken. Is there an alternate proving method in the works, and are the cheaters going to be dealt with? This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed in the very near future.

EDIT: For the record, this isn't a B/8 issue. I had no trouble distinguishing the two, and regardless, my rejected card doesn't have any 8s or Bs.

Are the loot packs the same as in the Raid boxes? Are they also going to be foil? Are they also going  to include loot cards?

We are looking into this and will have an update Monday. I'm not sure whether this is fraud or some other error.

All of the UDE point cards we tested worked fine, although sometimes the numbers can be a little hard to read.

Make sure you are aware of the difference between "B" and "8" since they are confused sometimes.

I checked and only one of the three "already in use" codes had a "B"/"8" in it and I've already checked both versions of the code. One was invalid, the other "already in use".

Yeah, I'm assuming I'm in the same boat as this other chappie you've replied to. I'll keep my eyes posted here for more info.

    Re: [Official] Loot Card Information

I love the fact that we will be able to redeem for yeti tokens etc...I am not a tournament kind of guy and it is fantastic to hear that i will be able to get the tokens. As a collector and 'family' player I hate it when all the cool things are tournament only.

I have bought a starter box and 4 booster boxes and am glad that this will be rewarded without the usual attitude of CCGs...'get to the tournaments for stuff!'

    Re: [Official] Loot Card Information

Gluh.. 25,000 lifetime points required? For a tabard? I spent $120 CAD already getting a booster box and a starter deck and earned 2600 points out of it.. in order to get 25,000 lifetime points I'll have to spend roughly $1200 to get it. :( I can't afford that.. nosiree bob.

While I understand this is a business, and that these items are purely cosmetic. (I mean, I, myself, have about half of my bank slots in the actual game filled with pets and nifty, but otherwise useless, items). But these are just way out of my reach as a very casual gamer.

In Newfoundland, no one's running any tournaments. No one. There was a release celebration, but only 6 people plus me and my friend showed up for it, and four people had to leave before it was over. So, it's safe to say it won't work out very well here in NF, giving me no drive to get more cards than what I have now.

So, I dunno, I'm just.. miffed.

    Re: [Official] Loot Card Information

I'd like to see the alternative art cards obtainable via points. I wasn't able to attend any release events, but really like what you did with it. I imagine I'll feel the same way about future alt card art.

Treasure packs is also a great idea. I probably won't buy more than 2 Onyxia decks, but would feel pretty torn if I was still missing some loot cards. I doubt they'll be as easy to trade for as normal cards, as you really don't need more than a few decks in a play group.

    Tokens, cool.

Original signed artwork. This is awesome, unfortunately I doubt I'll ever get enough points to pay the cost of these. Hope you guys will think up for an equally cool alternative. Fine art prints may work (if I understood it right).

The rest sounds "ok" but not something I would personally spend my points on. Foil versions of popular rares sounds kinda... cheap to me. But most foil versions do. Make them alternative art and we are talking :) (having a card art of arcanite reaper similar to the one from Parvink would rock. I'd even try to sneak it into my warlock deck!).
