    Re: Draft simulator update

In summary: give the site a while to load, it gets faster the more you use it. Also, i'm looking for a job in web/game development, please ask UDE to give me one, or officially endorse this site and put it on their site or something so it looks better on my CV (I believe you yanks call them resumes) :)

The black screens probably mean it's still loading. It takes the draft a minute or two to get going because it downloads all of the card images at the beginning so that you don't lose any drafting time waiting for images to appear.

Once the images are downloaded the chains and boosters should appear and let you start. This doesn't always happen given that different browsers work in deliberately awkwardly different ways! Internet Explorer is one of more annoying browsers and has no easy option to trim those nasty white specs in the corners of cards but it should be very reliable at using images it has cached on your computer rather than downloading the same image twice...

...so the more you use the site the faster it will get as your computer caches the images, depending on the cache settings on your browser.

And so when Scourgewar cards are added it will kinda slow down a lot.

At some point i'll get around to trying to compress the images and adding an option to disable the draft pick timer and have it download the images if it gets to them.

The pseudo randomness is not as bad as it was but yes it is still very clumpy at times. I recently opened two packs, in real life, and they had exactly the same uncommons in exactly the same order though! But yeah the simulator does often get the same epic or rare two packs in a row which is very bad so it's on my to do list.

It is unfortunately probably just a bug with the pseudo random number generator (PRNG). I started out with the Mersenne Twister which some people say is awesome but lots of people on the interwebs, including an allegedly big shot mathematician George Marsaglia, say that it's rubbish and they could do better, which George supposedly did and i'm trying his PRNG instead. Are there any Mathsy people out there who know better than Mr Marsaglia?

Taste of Arcana is in BoG isn't it? Was anyone drafting Mage? The AI doesn't know how to hate draft.

Individual card ratings are quite bad at the moment since i rated them before i'd ever done an actual real life draft. I played in my fourth ever draft (i don't get to draft much either! :( ) in pod 1 of the UK Nationals this weekend and went 2-1 and top eighted so i'm a vaguely reliable rater now and have corrected a lot of card ratings but there's a lot more to do on the site instead and noone will care about this block once Scourgewar is out.

I checked Mogor and i rated him as 80 out of 100 so he could well get passed on. I was such a noob! It's very hard rating hundreds of cards though and i did get a 5th pick Kazamon at the weekend so strange things happen.

I hope the draft loads for you eventually! If not try getting Internet Explorer 7+, Chrome or Firefox.

    cheers
    Rob

The issue when using RNG to produce packs is that the packs themselves aren't random.  Sure they're 'random', but they're actually specifically set up in certain ways.  So, if you generate a pack randomly you get produce packs that 'feel' wrong (eg 2 of the same commons).

Great site. I agree with the above that the probabilities need to be adjusted a bit but otherwise very appealing to the eyes and easy to use. Heres hoping you can design a way to play with the decks we make :)

    Re: Draft simulator update

This is a lot of fun.  I bet it was fun to write too.

The AI seems to value quests very low in DoW/BoG and very very high in FoH.  Granted BoG quests mostly are crap, but some are playable.
