considering 1/3 of all Sunday teams were triple him, that doesn't surprise me.
Actually, *4* made top 8 and 8 people were playing him, making it the most successful band per capita at Turin with a 50% ratio of top 8 to played.
THX also had 8 players (9 if you consider HHH part of the archetype) and only had 3 qualified, for a 37.5% or 33.3% qualified. That makes it either 2nd place or tied for 2nd with Jaina Zoo, with 1 out of 3 making top 8.
Admitedly, it's hard to normalize for playskill. If this was the USA I'd say THX tends to be played widely even by less skilled players, whereas the only Warlock players are a small band of American players that play it almost exclusively in tourneys, skewing the results. However, this doesn't hold true here, as apparently roughly half of the players playing it were Italians (which are unknown quantities to me). For all I know the better European players were all playing THX and Warlocks show themselves dominant, while the converse could also be true (the 'locks were played mostly by good players, resulting in the results for the band being mostly the product of talent rather than the power of the band).
