2292114:See: I didn't know that. But it's kind of a turn-off for new players...I mean, werewolves? My cousin swore to stop playing after he found out about worgens...
How is this a turn-off? As far as I can tell, werewolves are pretty much the most badass thing ever...why would anyone think otherwise? As a matter of fact, I'm probably going to start playing WoW again (after a long hiatus) solely because of the ability to now play as the Worgen.
Here are some quotes from www.wowwiki.com about the Worgens and Gilneas. So from these 2 quotes, it makes perfect sence why the Worgens are the new alliance race.
www.wowwiki.com:Frustrated by the destruction of Dalaran by the Scourge and against the advice of his peers, Archmage Arugal elected to summon an army of the extra-dimensional entities by using Ur's research. The summoned worgen fought against the undead armies, but quickly turned on the wizards themselves. Driven mad with guilt, Arugal adopted the worgen as his children and retreated to the newly dubbed Shadowfang Keep, where he then cursed the village people of Pyrewood to turn into worgen whenever the sun went down.
www.wowwiki.com:While Greymane's efforts to stem the tide of the Scourge kept Gilneas from the grasp of the undead, the Greymane Wall inadvertently subjected the Gilneans to a dark fate all the same. They fell under the Worgen curse as did their neighbors to the north in Silverpine. Somehow, the Gilneans freed themselves of the curse, to some degree. Though not under Arugal's thrall, the people of Gilneas were still transformed into the monstrous Worgen.
