Does our avatar reflect our real personality?

    Hi there!!

I am a student working on my dissertation and would be very grateful for people to answer my question!! Here's my question:

    How avatars represent us?
Does our avatar reflect our real personality of who we want to become? i.e. dreaming of becoming a Mage or a warrior etc.

    Please post your honest opinions!!
Many thanks!!! Have a nice day!    ^_^

no it just goes allong with my name.
a blade not yet tasted blood has surely been wasted.Unless its owner is duel weilding thunderfury then it must smell like roasted flesh.

Ahh, dissertation.. I remember those days.

To be honest, this may not be the best place to request this information as we don't get the chance to have custom avatars.  We do get a good amount of choices at this point, so maybe that's all you need.

As for me, I chose my avatar because it was the only Dwarf male at the time.  I don't really want to be a dwarf (insert Ted joke here), but I do generally like the fantasy archetype of the dwarven race.

Let's see. Currently I'm a bull that can turn into a bear. Yep that pretty much sums me up most of the time. I can be pretty stubborn, but can quickly turn ferocious if messed with too much.

Either that or I'm the stock market. *ba-dum-dish*

    No quote for you!

Re: Does our avatar reflect our real personality?

Sorry, I think I'm confusing people.

What I want to find out is that does the user's avatar characteristic reflect onto the user's personality. For example, if the user used a Warrior class avatar (the warrior's characteristic: strong, a fighter, brave etc.) - does that reflect the user's personality of what they wish to become or could it be just really who they are in some aspects?

Does that make any sense?  :P

I'm not good at explaining things - thanks for those who have posted up their replies by the way! Very grateful!

    :)

You're going to have a hell of a time with your dissertation.

Aww, that's not fair.  I didn't do a fantastic job of explanations on my dissertation.  It's more about proving that you can do original research rather than explain to the layman anyways.

Re: Does our avatar reflect our real personality?

I think for alot of people it reflects what deck they're currently playing/which avatar isn't being used by anyone else.
List of things that should never be said again:
    "Flex my gnome"
"Happy in his little gnomish pants"
"Breakfast just isn't breakfast without seven kinds of tube meat"
    "Tube meat"
    "Tractor Action"

Re: Does our avatar reflect our real personality?

I'm in a constant state of wishing that spacelion would pick a new avatar.  Every time he posts I think I've already posted on that thread.

Re: Does our avatar reflect our real personality?

My avatar does not reflect my personality, but since there is no Ogre avatar this one will have to do. My wife says a Shrek avatar would be appropriate. I guess I can see the resemblance.

Re: Does our avatar reflect our real personality?

I'm not really sure what the hope is here.  Each individual is going to have different reasons for picking the particular avatar that they have selected.  There will be some commonalities across some people, but unless you expect 1000 different people to respond to this thread, I don't really see how this would be a useful sampling method.  In other words, can you really construct a dissertation based on 20 different anecdotes?

My avatar has nothing to do with my personality. Just the Hero of my favorite deck I play.

    Cheers.
