    Zombyra vs Shadow Mirror

Player A: Controls Faceup Zombyra the Dark
Player A: Succesfully Destroys Player B's monster.

    Two questions.

    1. If Shadow Imprisoning mirror is faceup on the field, will zombyra reduce its attack/be able to attack directly?

    2. If Shadow Imprisoning mirror is activated while zombyra is at 1700, when he kills another monster will his effect be negated and return to 2100?

    Re: Zombyra vs Shadow Mirror

Zombyra the Dark's attack decreasing effect is Continuous. As such, Shadow Imprisoning Mirror will not affect it because it does not activate.

    Re: Zombyra vs Shadow Mirror

1a) Zombyra will decrease its attack (Continuous Effect).
1b) Zombyra will not be able to attack directly (Continuous Effect).

    2) No, all previous loss of ATK are considered a Continuous Application.

    Re: Zombyra vs Shadow Mirror

Although it seems similar, Shadow Imprisoning Mirror is different from Skill Drain.

1.) With Shadow Mirror it still can't attack directly. The first effect of Zombyra (the one where it can't attack directly), is continuous. Shadow Mirror cannot prevent continuous effects.

2.) With Zombyra at 1700 ATK and after Shadow Mirror is activated, his attack will still be 1700.

If you had Skill Drain instead, it would be yes all around. Remember, with Skill Drain, all things are possible.

    Re: Zombyra vs Shadow Mirror

    Zombyra the Dark:

This card cannot attack a player directly. Each time this card destroys 1 monster as a result of battle, decrease the ATK of this card by 200 points.

    Raging Flame Sprite

This card can attack your opponent directly. Each time this card successfully attacks directly, it gains 1000 ATK.

    From the FAQ:

The effect of "Raging Flame Sprite" is a Continuous Effect that cannot be chained to.

Judging from that, I'd say it's continuous. It's even in the link I provided.

The reduction effect is a Continuous effect per rulings making its timing similar to that of Raging Flame Sprite.  The ATK increase of RFS is a Continuous effect and cannot be chained to.  The Attack decrease of ZTD is a Continuous effect and cannot be chained to.

    Re: Zombyra vs Shadow Mirror

Thank you very much.  BTW, I forwarded this subject to Curtis for an official answer.

It may very much be that Andrew Naylor is correct and the Decrease is a Mandatory Trigger and not a continuous effect.

No, I'm making you do ACTUAL PLAY instead of SPEED PLAY.

And is it my fault you asked me to get you ready for when you start your judging career in 6 months?

I'm going to drill the information into you harder than Red Dragon Archfiend hits a defense position monster!

lol... At least he hasnt asked you to read my other threads yet - just the Priority one... Unfortunately, its the longest of the articles. Way to much information to cut it down any more than I have.

Took me all day just to write and edit the Draw Phase. Fortunately, the Standby Phase wont be that difficult. Not looking forward to the Main Phase(s) though.
