Need Help: Sanctioning Events and its requirements

I finally obtained my TO package and installed Mantis (3.027). After reading through the instructions, I still have a couple questions about sanctioned tournaments and reporting them (For I have not seen them or may have passed through them):

    1. At my tournament location, the amount of occupants fluxuates weekly. Because of this, some times there will not be enough people to fill the minimum requirement for a sanctioned tournament (I believe 8 is required). If I have a tournament already registered and not enough people attended, how would I go about informing UDE that I was unable to complete it? Is there something special that is required through the Mantis system?

    2. It states that a tournament number is NOT required prior to hosting a sanctioned tournament (However, it is highly recommended). Does that mean I would be able to host sanctioned tournaments only when I would have the appropriate amount of people (Without registering it in advance)? If so, how would I go about obtaining one after a tournament is completed?

    3.  Am I even able to run sanctioned tournament given my criteria? If so, how would I go about  it? Is there anything special that I would need to do?

Thanks in advance for your time, any help will go a long way.

    Re: First time user questions

    1. The minimum number of players for a sanctioned tournament is 4. If you pre-sanction a tournament and it ends up not happening, I would suggest you email to@upperdeck.com to inform them.

    2. If you request a sanctioning ID ahead of time, that event gets listed in the Tournament Locator and players can find it when searching for events. But, you do not have to pre-sanction the tournaments. You can create the tournament as you're running it. Then, when you go to submit the tournament, it will automatically grab a sanctioning ID.

    3. You can certainly run a sanctioned tournament so long as you have 4 players, a certified Tournament Organizer and a certified Judge.

    Re: First time user questions

You can create an event at any time.  If you want to run a team event on the spur of the moment, just create the event.  After the events is over, before you send via uplink, sanction the event in the "Tournament" dropdown and select "Update Tournament".  Click the box for "sanction ude event" and then click the "Update" button on the bottom.  You then "Uplink" and select to get sanctioning number.  After you have done that, you can "Uplink" and download your event.  You can run multiple events as long as there is a TO & Judge for the event.

Okay, so I'm still pretty new to mantis... Obvoisly. But I have the Pro Flags on, and I'm guessing the star by the name of the person means their a pro? Does this mean this person has been playing long enough to go to the pro league (I heard a rumor that it existed), or they've already gone, or is it they just passed thier judge tests, and I could make them a judge for the tournament?

I ask because I'm stared. I don't think I've ever played in the pro league and as you can tell from my signature, I only have 40 advanced duels under my belt, which i've won about half of. I thought it was the judge thing, because I'm a judge already.

    Re: First time user questions

There is no "Pro-Circuit" in Yugioh!  Just turn off the flag if it bothers you.  As stated above, it's easy to use Mantis.  If you want, practice creating tournaments and run mock ones (unsanctioned of course) to give you experience.  Try having different problems occur and see how you resolve them.  With some practice, you will get the hang of it.  Oh!  Don't forget to delete your practice events from your archives.  You don't want your archives full of non-sanctioned events.  There is alot of great advice on these forums too.  Utilize them.  Another way to get some experience in Mantis is to talk to your Event Lead or PTO about maybe running OPS for a round at a Sneek event.  Have fun!

    Re: First time user questions

At one point, UDE gave out some Pro Points to certain players to give them an invite to a VS Pro Circuit.  This included players on their Yu-Gi-Oh! game to particiapte in the VS Event.  For example, I have an asterisk (*) next to my name on MANTIS but have never placed high enough in a VS PCQ Event to earn Pro Points.

Official Tournament Policy Section 31 states:

For a three game match, with 4-8 players, there will be three rounds and a top 2 cut.
For a one game match, with 4-8 players, there will be four rounds and a top 2 cut.

    Hope this helps.
