Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

Attention all Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME players, judges and tournament organizers: To continually promote a diverse and enjoyable play environment, a few changes have been made to the Official Forbidden & Limited Lists. The changes are below and are effective for all sanctioned tournaments starting May 9th, 2008.

    Advanced Format:

    - “Dimension Fusion” is added to the Forbidden Cards List.

    - “Return from the Different Dimension” is added to the Limited Cards List.

    - “Allure of Darkness” is added to the Semi-Limited Cards List.

     Traditional Format:

    - “Return from the Different Dimension” is added to the Limited Cards List.

    - “Allure of Darkness” is added to the Semi-Limited Cards List.

Duelists cannot include a Forbidden card in their Deck. Only one copy of a Limited card and up to 2 copies of a Semi-Limited card can be included in a Deck.

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

Nice timing - I'm looking forward seeing interesting decks this Saturday since the German Nationals 2008 and the Swiss Nationals 2008 will take place on May 10 ^^

I will link this thread to our official TCG site www.trading-card-games.ch immediately.

Amazing !!! We have nationals this weekend. I was just about to make that my farewell tournament, but these changes add a tad more skill to the field, So I think I'll ride the weekend out and see. This news certainly has me excited. I just hope this new ban will in fact be enforced this weekend worldwide, and no exceptions are made because of the (for us) unfortunate timing.

The timing is not unfortunate, I rather think it is quite intended ;)

    Do I understand this right?
Dimension Fusion is still unlimited (3 per Deck) in Traditional Format?

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

UDE already stated it was already working on the emergency list when the march list was announced. The format is simply skewed. I hope it was intended, and will be enforced worldwide. I don't think its unfortunate timing personally, on the contrary, these changes, this close by, will seriously separate the talent from the wannabe's. But I can also understand the players that have to update their decks for nats three days before the tournament. Which is why I'm always a little scared that the local authorities may choose to ignore the banlist. So I really hope this will be enforced worldwide this weekend.

This is so not cool. I was thinking that the mid bans we're going to occur after may, on the beggining of july.

Looks like Dimension Fusion remains Limited in Traditional. Can only run 1.

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

"Dimension Fusion" is indeed on the Limited (1 per) list in Traditional, despite Dan not listing it there above.

[edit]Well, it appears the Ban List sites have not been updated with this new information quite yet, so we'll just have to wait and see how the Traditional List shapes up once the updates are completed.

Dan only listed the changes. D-fusion was already at one on the trad list ...

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

Is this a UDE-Sector Banlist change only, or is it applying as well in Japan?

If it's UDE only, I must retract my past words: UDE has done SOMETHING Right!

As Belgian Blue wrote, Dimension Fusion would remain at 1 per deck in the format we affectionately call "Tradish."   :)

It wasn't a change, so there was no reason to list it with the "changes."  The only changes are what you see above from Dan.

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

Well this is great for the US community.  Except for those like my son who borrowed two DADs from a friend/teammate in exchange for lending his Gladiator Beast/2 Heraklinos deck for an up-coming regional.

Now he must choose between (Perfect Circle, Samurai, Gadgets, Zombies, Gigaplant, Lightsworn/Judgment Dragon, LADD, Frog, Burn, Magical Explosion, Prisma and so on).  Having that many playable and competitive decks should revive the dueling community.

I will say that my Gadget/Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo deck went 50-50 in matches against my son's 3-DAD deck, and I didn't even side in Shadow Imprisoning Mirrors. Watch out for the Dyna!
