Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

in the world of Yu-gi Oh tcg upper deck ban lists are law. They can not be ignored even if the ban makes a few people happy and a lot of people angry. No matter how they decide to rule this list I say they have a right to change it if they feel it needs to be changed. I see no difference, the best players are still the ones that can make the best deck so how does a mid ban change that idea. Even if they have to change to a new deck entirely they still have the ability to do so. This changes absolutely nothing except the names of the cards. Even if you have to change your deck isn't that really what is fun about this game, making new different kinds of decks. That is what I find most fun so I guess that I should say that I think that this is not really a big deal.

I agree with what you are saying (although winner at nationals will be sent to european championships first which has the same banned list) although you are forgetting one thing:

Yes the more skilled players will be better able to adapt but only if they have the time for it.

I personally don't have the time to build, test, and perhaps collect some of the cards needed for a deck that could be a serious contestant at a national tournament.
I had built, tested and collected for a deck and had carefully planned my preparation for nationals.
If UDE decides to change the format then I think that I and all others like me deserve the time they need to adapt to them
Regardless of whether I can be considered "a good player", I won't be able to play any role in the upcoming tournament simply because UDE did not give me enough time to prepare.

That's why I think these changes come at a bad time.

Three days is not enough time to change and test with AT MOST 3 cards different in your deck ? The only way that applies is if your deck was based on one of these cards, like Ohm OTK. And if you were taking a deck like that you are either a very cheap player who doesn't want to win, just steal wins from players who actually have a shot, or too bad of a player to build a deck that actually requires playing instead of luck, in both cases you deserve to be punished. laziness and stupidity should not be rewarded.

if you can't prepare with 0-3 cards different in your deck, needless to say you probably shouldn't have played a role in that tournament anyway ...

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

so your calling all the top name players that ran the deck at shonen jump, most notably , erin diaz, " cheap player who doesn't want to win, just steal wins from players who actually have a shot, or too bad of a player to build a deck that actually requires playing instead of luck" ?

there is no need to be criticizing anyones deck, play style or talent....especially on a rulings forum....come on...show alittle respect....and if your going to argue over it....please use your pm boxes

Hah, this is what you get when you TCG players abuse these cards, blame UDE for making them.

Euh yes. I give Diaz some credit, because he still had the challenge of coming up with it and taking the field by storm with it. He's a great deckbuilder. But its not like it takes skill to play. On the contrary. Its the easiest thing to play since demise. Its not consistent enough to win in a prepared field, its only an option for people who are bad enough players to know they would win less than 50% of their games with a more skillful deck. But if you want to really get into this, I suggest you PM me. I mean come on, show a little respect.

My only point is that a banlist change this close to a major competition can only affect the game in the right way. the good players adapt better and faster. Only a bad player needs three weeks to adapt to, at most, a 3 card change to his deck. Anybody who claims differently can go sit with the people who seek to maintain the status quo on cards for the haves and have-nots and other people who need a material edge to win, rather than an edge in talent or skill.

Just as a quick heads up. The Tournament Card Registry has been updated to account for the new ban list. Do what you normally do to update RONIN / Deck Studio or you can get full details here.

    Enjoy!

Oh yes, all the DAD Return Net Deckers are going to be annoyed, aren't you Gareth? ^_^ Well this is no problem for the duellists who build their own decks. I think I may put my Crystal Beasts back together ready for Saturday.

I'm annoyed we're still allowed 8 copies of draw cards. Move Allure of Darkness or Destiny Draw up the list!

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

First off, I want to laugh at the person calling everyone who realised the format was broken before these changes "babies". You do realise that by whining about the people who complained you are just appearing ridiculously childish yourself?

Right, important stuff now: Personally, I think the changes themselves are precisely what the format needed. When the announcement was made that format changes would happen, talk everywhere was saying that DMOC and DimFuse were the problems, but the changes that UDE have made hit right where they need to: the FTK is dead and the OTK should now take considerably more skill.

The timing, I agree, could be better. 3 days is a very short time to adapt, even if it is only 3 cards, but as people have been saying - the best players are the most likely to be able to take advantage. At the end of the day, UDE couldn't release the information until they had it confirmed themselves, and they wanted it instigated as soon as possible.

As a slight aside, a friend of mine is developing a new FTK which is consistent and minimally affected by this change.

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

Not unexpected really...I am surprised by Allure though...you can have 3 D Draws, 3 Trade ins and 3 Solar Exchanges but not 3 Allure?

Personally, I would have waited to see how dominant the new gladiator beasts/lightsworn decks will do before doing anything further.

What happens if Lightsworn totally dominates competition now...another interim ban?

Also for those postings complaining about costly decks, what if Judgment Dragon is the new DAD, what then.  My point is there will always be one type of deck that dominates major competition...gee, Monarchs did it nearly for 2 years...will we continually jump up and down each time seeking an interim ban...????

with exams in the upcoming month I can be as good a players as it gets, I still won't have time to adapt to the banned list. It's a miracle that I managed to find enough time to actually compete at nationals.

And as you guessed correctly earlier, I was going to bring an FTK deck focussed around dimension fusion. So you can see that I will have to come up with an entirely new deck.

Then, as a comment on your bashing of people who create and use such decks:
running those decks takes practice, they're not exactly that simple to just put them together and start FTK'ing everyone.
And contrary to your belief that those decks are netdecked for the full 100%, I had replaced a significant ammount of cards from it to increase it's utility and consistency. The FTK remained more or less the same but how I obtained it differed greatly from any match report / decklist I've ever seen. I feel I'm genuily in my right when I decided to take an own creation to the nationals I worked to qualify for.

It's simply irresponsible of UDE to announce changes and enforce them 2/3 days after when they know big tournaments are going to be held. I just hope they won't punish people who show up with an illigal deck to much because really, it wouldn't be their fault.

Re: Important Announcement: Forbidden & Limited List Changes

    Let the money grubbing begin...lol

Ban lists do 2 things- fix broken cards and combos by limiting them and generate new sales for UDE and the like for their new boxes coming out. Yes I said it they do it also to generate sales. Don't bother trying to deny it. You spend money to get duo/cofiscation combo cards, UDE bans them, brokens cards i agree.but hey..lets make more money,so here's yata/envoy for your purchasing pleasure..but wait folks these are broken too. So it's your pleasure to spend, spend, spend for those monarchs and demise decks,,and it goes on and will contine to go on. My obvious point here is as a more than casual duelist, it gets annoying that I basically have to waste money on cards when, oh I don't know maybe you as the maker could try testing them out too see if they are broken in the 1st place so I dont throw money away..wait what was I thinking,,money grubbers not wanting me to do that,,for shame....lol
