You all just made us wait more than half a day for not one change?

That's disgusting to the people that buy your product. Absolutely disgusting. Thanks for nothing UDE. I was hoping to go to my first regional this time around, and now I would rather quit the game all together. I can honestly now see you have no consideration for consumer opinions...

    Well hello thar!

Your statement really is quite idiotic and actually just a bundle of words stringed together in an attempt to sound like your taking the moral high ground in what in essense a game for fun. Apparently my mate has a friend who went to business school and it makes perfect sense to cater for people who don't buy things and slate the company, especially people who haven't participated in that much organised play.

Ever considered that children, who want to play copies of monster reborn and actually buy packs, were catered for in this instance?

    Have a nice day.

You have my senseless rant all wrong. I was angry not over the list itself, but the fact that they knew about these changes, or lack of, from the OCG list all day and yet they continued to make us wait and wait for nothing except what most have already seen...

    Think of it this way:

Its like standing outside a Target Store for over 6 hours while the people inside are setting up, and then they come out and say "Sorry guy, we dont have Wii or PS3. But hey, we can sell you this Gamecube and PS2 you have already seen..."

The list has a lot of problems, but I can work with it. Its the fact in how they presented it to us I have a big problem with...

Again, I'll repeat what I said earlier.  The OCG list wasn't officially released until TODAY.  That's when it went up on Konami's Website.  The only reason why we heard what it was earlier was because it was published in a magazine that some people had received earlier.

So, you are going to criticize the fact that the companies set a date to officially release the information?  Or should they have said ahead of time that "yes, there's nothing new compared to the early leaked information"?  So blame V-Jump if you want to blame anyone on letting the info come out early.  It's not UDE's fault that they didn't say anything until the day they were supposed to.

You do know Konami does officially release the official banlist to V-Jump like a week before hand for those who actually buy it yah?

Sigh... time to get D.D. Crows and Ring of Defenses...

You didn't touch anything from Phantom Darkness because they want it to sell like crazy, regardless of how the game will be like. Like when the time Magical Stone Excavation is released, they didn't limit it immediately when it came out (Japan already have it on their list) is because they want the CP02s to sell, they limited on June 1st.

    2057559:

    You're not getting it...

This info didn't need a revision. It was and still is not on the official yugioh website. So my question is this: WHY did it take more than 3/4 of the day to place on this website?

I am done arguing. My question is valid. It was a questionable approach to make us wait this long for disappointment. I am sorry, but I am disappointed and whatever you say won't take that fact away. I will say I don't fully blame UDE at all, but I stand by my point that they should have posted it earlier. From what I heard, there was no malfunction on this website, only on yugioh-card. And since 1/2 the fans were here, it would have been so painless to post it here. That's all.

Your question is valid and bears an explanation. The reason that it took some time to find an alternative solution is because it's an alternate solution.

It seemed like a good idea to drive traffic to the official site with the new ban list (~2000 hits in about 2 hours, looking at the forum stats). With that in mind, we wanted to wait until the last possible minute in hopes that the issues preventing us from posting the list would be resolved. When we realized that it's not happening, to ensure that we do keep our word about releasing the list, we decided on an alternative (less optimal) method. Since we are not a one person company, you can expect delays in communication between various people required to make this happen. In addition, contrary to belief, posting the ban list today was not the most important action that the company had to perform. The wait time is attributed to group decision making and prioritizing this business matter with others.  Does the above make sense?

    Re: Ban List discussion

Cool [H]  Greetings from the UK, been following the discussion, and like everyone here been waiting to see if the TCG list is the same as the OCG list. I attend a hobby league over here and everyone I have spoken to thinks maybe its flawed  BUT it may do what I have wanted yugioh to do and that is re-introduce creativity to this game. So many duelists over here and in America lead the field creating new deck ideas and so what if magical explosion, DDT, decks are finishing the game quickly, but there are always round that so come up strange or new ideas that you never thought would work. Just my two cents.

    Regards from the UK.

Thanks so much. I feel much better now knowing this. Once again you have helped answer my question fully without arguing or anything.

I apologize if I said anything off the handle. I knew there had to be some explanation and I got even angrier when all the people here wanted nothing than an argument against why I was questioning this.

Sorry for any inconvienience I caused in your scheduel.

    Re: Ban List discussion

Regardless of a "good" or "bad" banlist, the game will go on. I was actually kind of excited to see the list. Not to mention, I can once again "dust off" my Ultra Rare Monster Reborn from LOB, WOO HOO!

That and now all of those common monster reborns I have laying around can be used again. :-)

But mainly, happy to see some of the old cards get life again.

    Re: Ban List discussion

i personally hate this ban list and didnt want to say but but after seeing this post i had to

Ever considered that children, who want to play copies of monster reborn and actually buy packs, were catered for in this instance?

Okay thats well and good and i'm all for that making little kids happy is a good thing Smile [:)]

Now the side of the story that your missing but i know because i have judge countless regionals. Okay the little kid is happy and playing his cool moster reborn only for that same kid to get smashed in the face by a OTK deck and not even allowed to take one turn. It really sucks for the kid Sad [:(] i mean it does have 2 options though

    1. the kid buys more cards to beat the kid that beat him
    2. the kid gets fustrated and stops playing

I dont really like the list because it promotes OTK decks and takes the fun out of the game. But yet i'm stuck builing one for my friend because i actually want him to win Sad [:(] but thats my 2 cents

    Re: Ban List discussion

Hi greetings to all, I'm going straight to the point , this ban list sucks, it's insulting, I don't know what ude was thinking and seeing it makes me wonder if the guys of ude actually play the game or are even a little aware of what's going on with the game that fills up their pockets with cash, it's a shame, instead of going forward the game will go backwards, I pretty sure this format will be  a lot like the past format (March 2007) it will be slow  of course with some people trying some useless OTK like the so commented magical explosion one. well getting to the list I HATE SO MUCH the now so famous relationship of the banning of magician of faith and the restriction on nobleman of crossout....what is ude or konami thinking??? is magician of faith the only flip effect monster??NO what about dekoichi, and not flip effect mosnters like sangan and treeborn frog ? Nobleman of crossout  needed to stay at 2, shame on you ude,,,, oh and they are banning call of the haunted but bringing back mosnter reborn??? bannin' a trap that only gets you a monster for your graveyard for ones spell that does it from either graveyard? give me a break, this only shows that the company doesn't care for the game it sells that's  wrong not to mention sad.

    Re: Ban List discussion

It's Konami's game so they adjust the ban list so the game is played like they want it to be.

Monster Reborn is fine, given it makes people think about what the dump in the graveyard, not to mention there are several counters. (Crow, Transmigration, Special Hurricane, Dark Bribe, Sol etc...)
They only real issue I've seen on the various boards, (aside from the general trolls, flamers etc) is the Valley OTK.
Now whilst it is annoying not to get a turn, these cards have not really been out long enough for them to ban them. Look at the complaints last time when a card was restricted before we even had it released.
The other thing about the Valley deck is it is an expensive deck to build and, as I said in an earlier post, the target demographic of the game (the kids who watch the TV shows) are most likely not going to be running it.

And of course there still could be a big twist coming. Imagine using the Valley OTK deck and then finding out that worlds, rather then just banning the TCG/OCG exclusives has a separate ban list (much like the Yugioh DS Game Champs has a different ban list).
Plus, as they have proved before, there is nothing stopping them doing a mid-season change.

But the biggest thing to remember is that a massive change is coming to the OCG game (and possibly to the TCG) so this could also be seen as a bit of a last harzza before the ruling clean-up/element change.

    Re: Ban List discussion

List kinda annoys me, i understand all the edits but i dont like how things had to change based on monster reborn.

Definitly should have taken phantom into consideration, DAD should be 1, and valley 2

I'd rather have a list that doesn't try to force cards back but solve problems

We got monster reborn to abuse opponent baboon and disk, disk will still be a problem no matter what.

the explosion didnt get touched and ddt got better. I dont under stand y explosion wasnt nerfed, at least we got shadow mirror against ddt

Main bad thing about this list is not banning dMoC, its the most broken card this format, it will force shadow mirror in side

Gadgets need to main shadow mirror now =P

    Re: Ban List discussion

DMoC could have used a ban, just to keep it off the radar of OTK possibilities. Now I can't say that

I am fully happy with this list, but it isn't too bad. The only thing that I have a problem with is that this

list solved no problems besides Raiza and Demise. Now I can sympathize with you, because your

hands are tied in this matter and you cant control the ban list. I just think that between UDE and

Konami should be a amendment in the contract that allows any "out of Asia" countries to have their

own ban lists. This way everyone can be tailored to. America's problems are different then Japans,

Austrailia's, Canada, and Everywhere else. With diversity can come constructive creations that would

have else been lost in the pile of "not competative enough because Japan screwed us over once

    again". Just my opinion.

DMoC is not the most broken card in the format...and as much as i like it, i admit, it could have seen the ban.

    The new list

I just read the new lists for March 1st, and I have to say that I am very disappointed.

First off, let me say that it's about time a Monarch got limited.  Raiza is by far the deadliest of the bunch, and it took you guys long enough to figure it out.

    Now, on to the disappointments.

First off, there are the new Bans.  I really have only one complaint here, though.

    1) Breaker the Magical Warrior
     - I laughed when I saw this.  Breaker is a one-time Mystical Space Typhoon with legs.  His effect is rarely, if ever, used twice in a single duel, so I see no point in this.

    Now for the Limited stuff.

    1) Advanced Ritual Art
     - Bit late, don't you think?  Though not a disappointment in and of itself, it is the timing that makes me shake my head.  The Advanced Demise deck has long since died out of competitive play.  All you did here was kick the corpse.

    2) Monster Reborn
     - Were the people who thought this up suffering from insanity at the time?  Seriously, do we REALLY need a card that can Special Summon anything from ANY Graveyard at NO COST?  The least you could've done was ban Destiny Hero - Disk Commander before resurrecting this thing.

    3) Ojama Trio
     - And the point of this was... what?  Seriously, what was the point?  I don't see this card used a whole lot in competitive play, so why bother?

And now for the Semi Limited cards.

    1) Book of Moon
     - Unban Cyber Jar while you're at it.  Seriously, this thing should've been left on the Limited List.  It's defensive AND offensive capabilities are too much.

    2) Cyber Dragon
     - You're just BEGGING to be lynched, aren't you?  Cyber Dragon is my favorite card, and you've just killed the theme.  And not only have you killed the theme, but you did something that had even less sense behind it than everything else: You Semi'd a card that NOBODY runs more than 2 of outside of a Machine Deck!  And don't you give me "You've still got Proto-Cyber Dragon" either!  Proto-Cyber Dragon has ONE use and ONE use only: Fusion Material.  Thanks a lot, UDE and Konami.  Way to give the finger to your players.

    3) Foolish Burial
     - You JUST released Phantom Darkness, and you STILL put this at 2?  And have we forgotten about a certain Disk Commander?

    4) Mage Power
     - This thing is better than United We Stand, and I don't CARE what you say about the 300-point difference in the boosts.  You can make Mage Power give a big boost a lot quicker than you can United We Stand.

    5) Magical Stone Excavation
     - Actually, I'm not disappointed at all.  I suppose this is to make up for Magician of Faith, but the discard cost also justifies it.  Still, I'd have left it at 1 just to be safe.

    6) Necroface
     - Before this list came out, I had a deck that utilized the power of Necroface and several anime cards, along with a variety of other RFG- and draw-elemented cards.  I would get a bunch of cards into the RFG piles of both myself and my opponent, only to reset it with Necroface and have it gain anywhere between 3000 and 4000 ATK.  I also ran three.  I can understand putting it at 2 so that there's still a chance of making the loop, but I think this thing is too powerful to be justified.

And now for the unlimited stuff
    1) The Gadgets
     - These guys were DEADLY at three, and then you Semi-Limited each one, a (rare) wise move.  And now you're handing their power back to them?  Jeez, why don't you just let your R&D department play in tournaments now?

    2) Pot of Avarice
     - ...........Gadgets.  I don't need to say anything else.

And there you have it.  My honest opinion about UDE/Konami's latest screw up.  Thanks a lot, guys.  I'll be plunging various electric tools into my chest now.
