Re: Gladiator Beast Retiari with a little bit of history

One of the reasons I attack with Spirit Reaper is that it can "net a card" (pardon the pun) from my opponent's hand, plus by leaving Reaper in attack mode after a Gyzarus rampage when they have 2-3 cards left in hand, it can set them up for a trap.

For instance, they attack Reaper. Then my turn, I unleash 3000+ damage on them and strip them of another card in hand.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with attacking with Reaper, in all honesty I consider it's card ripping effect it's main contribution to the deck. I just think Sangan does a whole lot more for Gladiators than Reaper. They're both fantastic cards, and I run both, but if I took CCV out, Reaper will generally come with it for Secutor/Hoplomus, Grand Mole, etc., it's in there because it's one of the best cards to tech into anything for Crush fodder. I'd never take Sangan out.

I hear you. Essentially, it's like D.D. Crow.

Is it needed in GB? No.

    Does it help? Yes.

    True. Good comparison.

Though it will be a lot more likely you'll find GB decks not running CCV still maining Crows, and you'd be fairly hard pressed to find many that run Reaper without it.

True. I guess those deck choices depend on the player's style of play.

Well, if it has a net, what if has a type of capture effect. They may have made with a type Mind Control upon summoning thing. If it has a good effect, it's attack will probably be around 1100, unfortunately.

Re: Gladiator Beast Retiari with a little bit of history

Yeah, I could deal with 1100 attack for that effect lol. Probably far too broken of an effect though, there aren't too many monstres that have that effect in the first place, and all the ones that do, have a much harder time taking monsters than simply being SS.

This idea was brought up by Andrew on Page 1 actually: "What gets me curious is if Retiari does have a net in the picture, it would remind me of Intercept. It makes me wonder if it would have a Snatch Steal-ish effect." but it was sort of hidden within the wall of text, so you're forgiven Wink [;)]

What about an effect that lets you add 1 card from your opponent's graveyard to your hand?

Re: Gladiator Beast Retiari with a little bit of history

lol why does everyone expect it to be the most broken Gladiator Beast ever? It certainly has a nice  little "fisherman" theme to it haha, but I don't even think there's any monster in the game that has a similar effect as of yet.

When do you think they're going to release the information for Retiari and the others?

Re: Gladiator Beast Retiari with a little bit of history

I'd like for it to be one of the best GB cards ever, but it's a TCG exclusive, so I still have my doubts.

I figure info will be released sometime next month.

Re: Gladiator Beast Retiari with a little bit of history

Granted some of the TCG exclusive Glads have been horrible, but Test Tiger is a TCG exclusive too, and it's easily one of the best cards the deck has. So if you're going to doubt it's effectiveness, don't base it on being an exclusive. Wink [;)]

I still don't like Slave Tiger... It just sounds so wrong. I love that kitty, he's not allowed to be a slave. Bah!

    Cute thread   :)

    2325975:

lol, I highly doubt it will be Dark, none of them are. And I've seen those rumors too but I've seen them next to about 1000 more guesses.

Just remember there's really no such thing as rumors, just guesses.  So when you say "2 rumors + 1,000 guesses" it's really the same thing as saying "1,002 guesses."

I've read all the threads on various sites.  I suppose it's possible that the type of monster and the effect has already been guessed...

    or maybe it hasn't...

or maybe, just maybe, someone's brought it up in passing and had no idea they've actually gotten it right because they weren't actually "guessing"

Oh, and I'm only stopping by because I like causing trouble, if you couldn't figure that out already

    hehehe    :)

Re: Gladiator Beast Retiari with a little bit of history

You know, it could be possible that it doesn't have an effect, just to stir things up a bit. Like a high level monster with high attack.

Actually that wouldn't be so bad. It would give us something to run over Stardust Dragon and Prime Material Dragon with. Seeing as we hardly use Gaiodiaz and Heraklinos requires 3 to bring it out.
