the REAL reason that the Gladiator beast are not on the ban list is because they are just not cool enough. on the other note I cant wait to see japan get the extra pack.
draw power? who needs that if I have alot of cards in my hand.

i don't remember if i read -what i'm about to say- in these forums or somewhere else, but this game is not tournament oriented, we are not the primary target.

i know tournaments move a lot of people and money, but the real primary target is the kids that follow the anime on TV and want to buy the cards they watch in TV. at least here in Costa Rica, there are tons of kids that have their parents buy them booster packs, but those kids never attend to tournaments or similar.

also, why would they bann the deck that will generate a lot of money with the upcoming releases (as previously stated).

ps. @ johnist: that's a real nice sig.

And that would be understandable if the Gladiators ever played a big part of the Anime.   They didn't.

Gladiator is pretty much a pure Tournament set.

The funniest thing is,  once Test comes out in Japan they'll be running the exact same decks as the GB duelists here.

Konami will have no choice but to adjust the list.

It would have been a better idea to just customize the list to each region.  How hard is it really?

    The reality of the situation?

They decided to weaken all the EXPENSIVE decks, but in exchange forgot that there ARE overpowered things in the EASY to obtain decks.

    Nuff said.

Currently GB decks are expensive as heck too.  Herk is pretty pricey.

Truth be told there are a lot of cards that hit the banlist because it evens out the field a lot. Most of the time the cards are either so flooded that everyone has one or the cards are so rare that only a handful of people actually own one, let alone three copies of one. I see the banlist as a way of keeping the richest of the players from using and abusing powerhouse cards like Dark Armed Dragon or Crush Card to run roughshot over people who can not afford to buy them.

Herk is going to come out in the next Special Edition so it'll be cheaper to build a GB deck. GB will probably be hit on the next ban list.

I should probably point out the fact that Newt (Slate Warrior to us) was restricted to one per deck in Japan for about a year after its original release, despite most players not having more than one copy, due to its limited print run.  He wasn't removed from the list from a lack of power.  He was removed because he was too rare to really need to be restricted.

You can get a Slate Warrior simply by buying the Wind-themed structure deck.

The same goes in Japan (it was Newt's second printing there).  The point is, rarity of a card doesn't really mean much toward restriction/banning.

Don't have an answer for you. Konami hasn't explained their reasoning behind these decisions.

    Sorry.

Lol. Yeah, then everyone would stop hating GB so much. Instead, they'll focus on their hate of Cyber Stein.

The thing is, with the mass release of CCV, Cyber-Stein I think just got worse. First turn summon Stein, activate its effect, Special Cyber End/Cyber Twin Dragon, set CCV, end turn.

If they made a light type Cyber-Stein but for Synchros, I think it could be pretty good. Thought Ruler Archfiend anyone?

    Stein + Unstable Evolution + Megamorph = Cyber Twin Dragon 5600 x 2 attacks + Stein 2400 1 ATK

    I just made your Synchro-Stein
