    Side (8)
The Grave in the Fourth Dimension

    Solemn Judgement x2
    Bottomless Traphole x3

I was working this with a friend, and he said to put in at least two more cards. He said no traps because of Royal Decree, calling this a Horus Lockdown deck. What do you think I should put to complete this deck?

    Re: LV/Horus Lockdown Deck help

    - 1x Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8

    + 1x Cyber Dragon
    + 1x Brain Control
    + 1x Smashing Ground

That's about all, 3 Horus LV 8's is just a bit too much in my opinion.

THOSE were the staple cards I was thinking of but couldn't reach my brain for!

    But why Cyber Dragon?

    Re: LV/Horus Lockdown Deck help

    Cyber Dragon's effect allows you to special summon it if your opponent controls monsters while you control none. Here is a scenario for ya;

You have Cyber Dragon, Horus LV.6 and Horus LV.8. Your opponent controls two monster while you control none. You can special summon Cyber Dragon then tribute it to summon Horus Lv.6 attack with it then level it up to LV.8 that's why Cyber Dragon would be good in the deck. It's also a good card to have for those esituations where you have no monsters that you can summon.

    Re: LV/Horus Lockdown Deck help

Problem is that B.T., Trap Dustshoot, and Solemn Judgement are trap cards, which are useless when Royal Decree is in effect.

    MAYBE Trade-In....maybe.

even if you run 3 decree's, that wont garentee it being on the field all the time. plus, you don't have to activate decree every time you set it. use it only when you need to. thats why decree is more of a side deck imo. i run a kingdragun horus synchro dragon deck and i use only 1 decree or none or 2, depends who i am dueling. gb would own a deck running 3 decrees and thats it... while bottomless and solemn would shut gb down ;)

    Re: LV/Horus Lockdown Deck help

Yes, but it'd be a waste of space, my suggestion is if you want to have a more trap offensive, at least more than you have now. I'd try taking out 1 or 2 Decrees and siding them, than throw in bottomless and solemn, 3 of each actually. That way you can have yourself a defensive against Gladiators and even Tuners for the most part. As for Trade-In, I don't think it would be a good idea to run 3 Trade-In with 3 LV 8's cause than you need both just to get the 2 draw cards and when you have only one of the 2 cards needed, it's a dead draw, also a bad idea to pitch your trump card to the graveyard.

Try to mix match Decree and the Bottomless and Solemn. That would atleast help the deck against Gladiators. If you want, just throw the Solemn's and Bottomless' in the Side Deck and if you come across a Gladiator build, you'll be ready.

...Um...I've kind of realized this among reading, but...why Gladiators specifically? What about other decks like Lightsworns and what not?

    Re: LV/Horus Lockdown Deck help

I say trade-in (at least 2) definitly because he has 6 lvl 8 monters (horus 8 and silent mage 8).  And to add, he use level modulation, so this is how it works: dump silent mage or horus for trade in, use level modulation to special summon what you just dumped. plus you get 2 new draws woohoo! So -2 mallets and +2 (or 3) trade-in and +1 horus 8.

For gladiator beast, in my oppinion, is the scariest deck ive ever faced (with my dragon deck).  Once he gets you with the tag in/tag out, contact fuse, destroy 2, contact out, special summon 2, contact fuse again, negate magic/trap by discarding 1 card, etc..... all without using magic cards or trap cards.  So what if you make magic cards useless or have royal decree out? That wont stop gbs, trust me.  what does stop them, or even most decks youll see out there, is solemn judgement.  Bottomless trap hole is also another card thats versile that stops most trumph cards in any deck (like DAD).  But dont get me wrong, im not saying that GB is the most popular or strongest deck out there... its just that running only 3 royal decree will not give you more advantage than running solemn judgements or bottomless traphole or other good trap cards.

I like your deck so far though, seems fun :).

    Re: LV/Horus Lockdown Deck help

Problem with Level Modulation. According to the Level Modulation Card Rulings via Yugioh Wiki:

An "LV" monster that normally cannot be Special Summoned except by the method in its text CANNOT be Special Summoned from the Graveyard with "Level Modulation" unless it has been previously Special Summoned by the correct procedure. The "ignore the Summoning conditions" text allows for these monsters to be Special Summoned only after they have been properly Summoned by their own effect. This applies to "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8", "Armed Dragon LV7", "Armed Dragon LV10", "Silent Swordsman LV7", "Silent Magician LV8", and "Winged Kuriboh LV10".

Sorry about the links. It came like that....

    Re: LV/Horus Lockdown Deck help

Trade in x 2, Graveyard in the Fourth Dimension / Pot of Avarice x 2

Also, a better site to get your rulings from (non-Wikia) is www.netrep.net they will not have the links and are easier to read, plus they cross reference.
